H-E-B restores normal hours to Dallas-Fort Worth Central Market stores
In a post-coronavius move, Central Market stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are going back to their regular hours.
According to a release, parent company H-E-B is returning to pre-COVID-19 hours at all of its stores, including Central Market and H-E-B stores (which the Fort Worth area tragically has very few of).
The new Central Market hours begin on Monday, April 27, from 8 am-10 pm daily. Also that day, H-E-B stores will operate from 7 am to 10 pm.
In March, H-E-B shortened store hours in response to the COVID-19 pandemic (and subsequent rush of shoppers to supermarkets).
The company says it has since strengthened the supply chain, thus improving its capacity to help customers, but will continue to follow guidance and advice from medical professionals and the Centers for Disease Control.
"Our top priority remains protecting the health and safety of our Partners and customers," they say in a statement. "Even with our extended hours, our stores remain diligent in following H-E-B’s strict hygiene and sanitation measures as well as proper social distancing protocols."
They've also formed teams trained to ensure sanitation and social distancing measures are in place, and are requiring all employees in customer-facing roles to wear face masks.
H-E-B's plan coincides with Texas' plan to reopen the state in coming weeks. Emboldened by the slowdown of COVID-19 after social distancing measures were implemented in mid-March, Texas Governor Greg Abbott outlined a plan that began with the reopening of state parks on April 20, to be followed by retail stores opening for pickup on April 24.
"Because of the efforts by everyone, we're seeing glimmers that the worst of COVID-19 may soon be behind us," Abbott said.
