Tastemakers Party
5 reasons every Fort Worth foodie should attend the 2016 Tastemaker Awards
You've read about the event and voted for your favorite new restaurants. Now it's time to indulge in the 2016 CultureMap Tastemaker Awards.
The party takes place May 19 at the Hall of State in Fair Park, and you won't want to miss it. Don't believe us? Here are five delicious reasons why you should buy tickets right now.
1. The food. Obviously.
Dallas and Fort Worth's top restaurants are bringing their A-game with tasting plates featuring some of their best dishes. We're talking a trio of guisados beef, chicken, and vegetarian tacos from Revolver Taco Lounge; Japanese sea bream with shiso and lemon from Uchi; house-made meatballs with San Marzano tomato sauce and Parmesan from Americano; and red snapper crudo with aji amarillo, finger limes, and crispy plantains from Knife. And that's just a sampling.
2. More food.
It wouldn't be the Tastemaker Awards without an abundance of lip-smacking goodies, so the menu doesn't stop with savory plates. There will also be dessert from Haute Sweets Patisserie, Front Room Tavern, and Fluff Bake Bar. Lemon snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich, anyone?
3. You get to watch master mixologists in action.
Local mixologists Danny Caffall (the Mansion Bar), Kyle Hilla (The Theodore), and Zach Potts (Remedy) are not only competing for the title of Bartender of the Year; they'll also be showing off their craft. Sip exclusive, never-before-tasted Tequila Herradura cocktails during the event, and just try to pick a favorite.
4. Photos that are good enough to eat.
If it's not documented in a photo booth, did it ever really happen? At the Tastemaker Awards, you can practice your model moves while chowing down on these two tasty ideas. Instacookies, from Kellie's Baking Co., magically frosts your pic on a cookie. And Whole Foods will be onsite with a photo booth and a massive cheese display, perfect for your next #goals post.
5. Meet "the father of Southwestern cuisine."
Chef Dean Fearing, of his eponymous restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, is our distinguished emcee. Hardly anyone knows more about food than this Dallas culinary legend, and this is a prime opportunity to rub elbows with the best in the biz.
