Dallas' most popular brunch restaurant finds fancy Fort Worth berth
Dallas' top brunch restaurant is taking its Benedicts west: Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery will open its second Tarrant County location in the prestigious University Park Village lifestyle center in Fort Worth.
The restaurant will go into a location with a strong brunch history of its own: the former space occupied by Blue Mesa, which closedin June 2015, after being at that location since 1988. UPDATE: According to Blue Mesa owner Liz Baron, "Blue Mesa is still very much open in Fort Worth, and will continue at the University location until September when we re-open in our new location, which is our grandest to date."
Bread Winners will execute a new design that's vintage and eclectic, speckled with antiques and unique found items. The style will be most similar to the NorthPark Center Bread Winners, with white-washed brick, hardwood floors, smoky mirrors, and marble tabletops.
This location joins existing neighbors such as Pacific Table and McKinley's. It also comes with a spacious patio.
Bread Winners owner Cindy Hughes says in a release that they always planned on a Fort Worth location.
"For the past five years, we have searched and waited for the right spot," she says. "This location at University Park Village is special and offers us a neighborhood synergy that is similar to our Uptown Dallas, Park Cities, and NorthPark Center customer base."
Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery was founded in 1994, and wins awards for its desserts and famous weekend brunch. There are locations in Uptown Dallas, on Lovers Lane, at NorthPark Center, and in Plano.
The restaurant will not open until spring 2017, but impatient diners can always head for the first Tarrant County-based Bread Winners, which opens in Trophy Club in fall 2016.
