Holiday events are starting to appear in the form of winter spiced menu specials, a holiday happy hour with a whiskey barrel Christmas tree backdrop, and beer pairings with Christmas cookies. There’s also a beer dinner celebrating the holiday flavors of Mexico (think tamales and buenelos), and tasting of premier winter releases of craft brew. ‘Tis the season to eat, drink, and be merry.

Monday, December 9

Season of Spice at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel
The downtown luxury hotel just launched its next Omni Original featured flavor, and it encompasses layers and layers of warm winter spice. Dishes like apple-spiced bourbon pork belly sliders, buttermilk fried quail with guajillo pepper honey butter, and Szechuan peppercorn doughnuts with star anise custard make up the small plates-style menu, available in the hotel’s Cast Iron restaurant. The menu is available until January 4.

Holidays in Mexico Beer Dinner at Funky Picnic Brewery & Café
Celebrate the flavors of Mexico at this five-course dinner featuring Black Cat Pizza chef Jaime Fernandez. Menu items (which don’t include pizza) range from squash tamales and chicken posole to smoked duck with mole and chile relleno. Each course will be paired with a different Funky Picnic beer. Tickets are $75 and dinner begins at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, December 11

TX Whiskey Wednesday
If anything, go for the 30-foot whiskey barrel Christmas tree. The Wednesday happy hour is one of the last opportunities for the general public to see it. The $9 admission includes your first cocktail, and the special for the evening is a TX Whiskey-spiked hot chocolate. There’ll be live music, shopping, and Gepetto’s Pizza Truck will keep folks fed. The event will run from 5 to 9 pm.

Real Ale Beer & Cookie Flight at Flying Saucer
Who needs milk when one can pair beer with cookies? The downtown pub will serve a flight of Real Ale holiday-perfect brews paired with cookie classics, including poinsettia beer with a sugar cookie, double dry hopped axis with a lemon cooler, dunkleweizen with gingerbread and café de olla with a Mexican hot chocolate cookie. The pairings will be available starting at 6 pm. Stay to watch Polar Express at 7 pm (kids welcome) and the more adult Krampus at 9 pm. Tickets are $18.

Saturday, December 14

Holiday Beer Tasting at The Ginger Man Southlake
The Fort Worth outlet of the Ginger Man closed just more than a year ago, but the Soutlake location lives on. The annual tasting event includes eight beers along with small plates. Festive brews will include Saint Arnold Brewing Company’s Christmas ale, Brooklyn Brewery’s winter lager, Karbach Brewery’s Yule Shoot Your Eye Out, and local favorite Rahr & Sons Bourbon Barrel Ale Winter Warmer. The tasting is $45 and will run from 3 to 6 p.m.
