Just in time for end-of-summer grilling and the upcoming tailgate season, three Fort Worth chefs will showcase recipes great for a cookout. But first, other culinary happenings this week includes classes on pho and pasta, a burger week kick-off party, and a dinner for a good cause featuring a favorite local chef.
Tuesday, August 12
Pho Making Class at Hao’s Grocery & Café
Chef Hao Tran will guide participants through preparing the iconic Vietnamese noodle soup. Leave with a container of homemade pho and the skills to impress guests at your next dinner gathering. Class is $55 and begins at 6 pm.
Thursday, August 14
Pasta Making Class at il Modo
Spots fill fast for this hands-on pasta-making class at The Kimpton Harper’s Italian restaurant downtown, so snag yours quick. The class is $80 (add $19 for an optional wine pairing) and begins at 6 pm in il Modo’s private pasta-making room.
Friday, August 15
Celebrity Chef Dinner at Taste Project with Kevin Martinez
Tokyo Cafe chef will visit the South Fort Worth community restaurant for a fundraising dinner benefiting Taste Project’s mission of providing pay-what-you-can meals for all. Tickets start at $300 for a table of four (single seats and tables of two are already sold out) and include a multi-course dinner. Guests may BYOB. Dinner will run from 6–8 pm.

Fort Worth Burger Week Kick-Off Party at Heim Barbecue on the River
Fort Worth Burger Week benefitting Tarrant Area Food Bank officially starts August 18, but Heim Barbecue is getting the party started early. Get a sneak peek of Heim’s $7 Burger Week special at their River District location at 5333 White Settlement Rd. Pair it with a $3 Fort Lyte beer. The first 50 people will snag a Fort Worth Burger Week drawstring backpack filled with swag and even gift cards. The special will run from 11 am–2 pm.

A Cowtown Comfort Cookout at Central Market Cooking School
Three Fort Worth chefs – Quincy Wallace of Fred's Texas Cafe, Levi Gardner of JD's Hamburgers, and Michael Thomson of Michaels Cuisine – will demonstrate how to prepare their recipes featured in the recently released Fort Worth cookbook, Cowtown Comfort: Fort Worth Recipes, Places, and Food Traditions. The cookout-themed menu includes a slider of the original Fredburger, backyard barbecue brined chicken, okra fries, and Texas sheet cake. The dine-and-demo class (no cooking required) includes wine. Class is $90 and will run from 5–7 pm.
