Openings and new menus make this Fort Worth restaurant news upbeat

Full spread at Blue Mound Cafe
This edition of Fort Worth restaurant news has lots to cheer about with openings and re-openings, and just one closure or two. There are new menus and limited-edition items, so if they sound good, don't delay, because they won't be around forever.
Here's what's happening in Fort Worth restaurant news:
Blue Mound Cafe, the small chain of restaurants serving homey, wholesome Southern and American food, is opening a new location at a revered address: 4120 W. Vickery Blvd. at Hulen Street, better known as the former home to Vickery Cafe, which relocated to the West 7th District. Owners Dustin & Craig Bunney founded Blue Mound Cafe at the height of the pandemic in 2020 with a goal of serving the community with a menu of homestyle food and scratch-made desserts. The menu has omelets, egg combos, breakfast tacos, sandwiches, salads, nine burgers including cheeseburger sliders, tuna melts, chicken-fried steak, cream pies, cheesecake, and cobblers. They currently have four locations at Belknap, North Richland Hills, Saginaw, and Arlington — Vickery will be the fifth.
Mash'D, a sports bar concept founded by two F&B veterans who also founded the TruFire Mediterranean chain, closed its location in Fort Worth's West 7th district; according to Fort Worth Foodies, the closure was on January 31, and according to employees, the closure was abrupt and without warning. They were known for their moonshine cocktails, plus burgers and deep-dish Detroit pizza. They're not the only closure in the neighborhood: Si Tapas, the tapas concept founded in Dallas which opened its Fort Worth spinoff iin March 2024 in the former Fireside Pies space at 2949 Crockett St., has also closed; again, according to Fort Worth Foodies, they closed in late December.
Tabla Indian Restaurant, a fast-casual concept with roots in Florida, is now open at 5633 N. Tarrant Pkwy. with Indian classics like chicken tikka masala and goat biryani, plus specialties such as tandoori shrimp and dal makhani — a north Indian dish featuring black lentils simmered with onion, tomato, and fenugreek. They also offer Indian street foods like samosas, plus Indo-Chinese and Thai items like wok-tossed fried rice, hakka noodles, and momo dumplings in a spicy Indo-Chinese sauce.
Jersey Mike's Subs has opened a location at 2809 W. Berry St., by TCU, which is a clever place for a sub shop to open. This is the ninth location in the Fort Worth area.
La La Land Kind Cafe, the quickly-growing coffee shop chain founded in Dallas in 2019, has just opened its first location in Fort Worth at 5733 Camp Bowie Blvd., with both in-house seating and a drive-through, which puts it above all of these yutzy chains that are drive-through only. In addition to coffee drinks and a bright yellow-and-white color scheme, they have a do-gooder mission of offering opportunities for fostering youth and individuals in need.
Terra Mediterranean, the beloved though peripatetic restaurant serving middle Eastern food, has re-opened its location in Fort Worth at 2932 Crockett St. Restaurateur brothers Jalal Chanaa and Adam Shanaa closed the Fort Worth location four years ago, then opened a location in Plano — which they just closed. Now they are down to Fort Worth plus their original concept, Ali Baba, located in Richardson.
Gemelle, the Italian restaurant from Tim Love, has a new menu featuring spuntino options, an expanded pasta selection, and a frutti di mare category. Cafe Americana, the cozy restaurant and bar in Arlington that's the brainchild of Moose Benhamacht & Liesl "Li" Best, has revamped its menu and will be unveiling a new wine list.
