Chapel Bar to open in historic building in downtown Weatherford

Chapel Bar
A cool new watering hole is coming to a vintage building in Weatherford: Called Chapel Bar, it's from Christian Lehrmann, co-owner of Tinie’s Mexican and Sidesaddle Saloon in Fort Worth, and according to a release, it'll open in the historic Cotten-Bratton building at 115 College Ave. in late fall.
Chapel Bar will serve primarily as a bar with cocktails and wine, but will also feature a menu of Southern-inspired small plates such as buttermilk biscuits with peach preserves and smoked bacon deviled eggs, created by Lehrmann, who also has experience in the catering industry. To that end, Chapel Bar will partner with Jazz Chapel as the preferred catering service for events at Jazz Chapel, which has become a sought-after wedding venue and event space for corporate parties and community events.
Lehrmann also plans to partner with local chefs in the community through collaborative supper-club style dinners, wine and spirit dinners and even a monthly concert series.
"I am excited to bring Chapel Bar to life, a unique concept centered around craft cocktails, tapas-style food, and a vibrant nightlife,," Lehrmann says. “Our partnership with Jazz Chapel as the event space caterer will allow us to host a variety of creative and engaging events. The opportunities this space and partnership provide are endless.”
Chapel Bar joins Zeno’s on the Square, Jazz Chapel, and Capital Hatters as part of the revitalized Cotten-Bratton building, a cornerstone of Weatherford’s downtown since 1883.
Together, these venues create a vibrant destination where dining, entertainment, and events flow naturally between spaces. Guests can enjoy cocktails at Chapel Bar while attending celebrations, dinners, or concerts, all within the same historic setting.
Originally built as a furniture store and funeral home, the building has undergone a transformation, reviving its architecture and restoring many original elements, including hardwood floors and stained glass.
Chapel Bar occupies the former funeral home’s reception entryway, overlooking the preserved pews and pulpit that served as the funeral home chapel. Thoughtful touches such as modern local art and luxe leather seating create a space that transports guests to 1883 while embodying the refined aesthetic of the modern West in a comfortable Western speakeasy environment.
