Closure News
Fort Worth Champagne bar The Coupe is closing after 2 years

Fort Worth's Champagne days are over.
A Fort Worth bar dedicated to the best beverage in the world is closing: The Coupe, a Champagne bar that opened in the South Main area at 314 S. Main St., is closing after two years.
The bar issued a statement about the closure, stating that it was being done "with mixed emotions."
"While this endeavor has come to an end, it may just be the start of something new!" they said in a statement.
The Coupe, which opened in the South Main area in August 2023, was from husband-and-wife Scott Kimble and Lauren Badgett, who both worked in the healthcare industry but shared a passion for all things bubbly, having met at Grand Cru Wine Bar on Magnolia Avenue.
At The Coupe, they offered sparkling in bottles, by the glass, and for retail sale, with a noble goal to spotlight labels that were more affordable and introduce customers to areas of the world outside Champagne.
They opened as part of a Champagne bar trend in Dallas-Fort Worth, following the March 2023 debut of Pinky's Champagne Room & Velvet Jazz Lounge, a charming lounge in Fort Worth's Near Southside which also unfortunately closed in May 2024. Perhaps DFW's Champagne days are over. Either that or marketing yourself as a Champagne bar is not optimum in DFW's unappreciative boorish realm.
They also served all kinds of wine, not just bubbly, and hosted a variety of creative entertainment events such as celebrating National Fried Chicken Day by bring in your own fried chicken and getting 10 percent off your tab, along with stand-up comedy, tattoo nights, art walks, and "sip and paint" parties.
The couple did not divulge why they were closing. Kimble referred inquiries to Badgett, stating that he didn't have any "inside information" on the closure. Badgett did not respond to emails.
They're hosting a Last Call party on Saturday August 9 at 4 pm, with tickets for $30 that include two specialty drinks, and are also inviting customers to buy up any leftover inventory as well as furniture on Saturday and Sunday.
