Rodeo party tops 6 best food and drink events in Fort Worth this week

Kick off rodeo season with a party in the bar at The Crescent Hotel
The snow has melted and restaurants and bars are ready to welcome back patrons with food and wine. The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo kicks off Friday, and one be-seen hotel bar is throwing a party to celebrate. Tuesday, January 14
Bordeaux & California Wine Dinner at Paris 7th
Chef Mark Hitri’s French fine-dining restaurant will host a five-course wine pairing dinner featuring GC Lurton wines. Among the elaborate menu items are black truffle and foie gras-stuffed quail, roulade of braised lamb shoulder, and pavlova with sauteed blueberry port. Dinner is $250 plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm.
2nd Tuesday Monthly Wine Dinner at Caterina’s
Italian fine dining destination in Mule Alley features a five-course wine pairing dinner every second Tuesday of the month. January’s menu includes seared scallops, apple salad, wild mushroom ravioli, lamb chop demi glace with cannellini bean puree, and torta tenerina. Dinner is $165 plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 6:30 pm.

Robert Foley Wine Dinner at Ellerbe Fine Foods
Popular wine dinners at the Fort Worth fine-dining destination typically sell out, so secure seats asap. This one pairs a 4-course dinner with six wines from Robert Foley Vineyards. Menu items include crudo di capesante, crispy smoked pork shoulder, seared duck breast, and Sicilian orange cake. Reservations are $175 plus tax and gratuity. Arrive by 6:30 pm. Friday, January 17
Rodeo Kick-Off Party at The Circle Bar
The Crescent Hotel will host a party at its in-house Circle Bar to coincide with the kick-off of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. They'll be rolling out local dishes like Wagyu beef from The Gearhart and Hi View Ranches, quail from Texas Quail Farm, and cheese from Veldhuizen Cheese Shop in Dublin; Texas wines from Lost Draw Cellars and William Chris; and Fort Worth beers from Cowtown Brewing and Rahr & Sons. Plus live music, boot shining, and glass dipping by Maker’s Mark. The festivities start at 4 pm and reservations are not required.
Saturday, January 18
Dolly Day at Truck Yard Alliance and Second Rodeo Brewing
The sister concepts will each host a day-long celebration of Dolly Parton, whose 79th birthday is January 19. There’ll be Dolly-themed drinks, a Dolly impersonator (2-5 pm at Second Rodeo, 5-9 pm at Truck Yard), a Dolly and Jolene lookalike contest (3:15 pm at Second Rodeo, 7 pm at Truck Yard), and Dolly Parton covers by live musicians. Both venues will also host a children’s book drive all month long. Guests who bring a new or used children’s book get a Dolly surprise and a Dolly Parton pin. The party starts at 11 am and runs until midnight.

Vineyard to Bottle with Wine Wize
The Fort Worth Food + Wine Foundation will host this in-depth educational class on the mystery of winemaking. Explore climate, geographic, and terrain influences along with how winemakers make decisions beyond the harvest. The event is $125 and will take place at Ellerbe Fine Foods from 6-9 pm.
