Acclaimed Dan's Bagels opens new shop on Grapevine Southlake border

An acclaimed bagel name is opening a shop in Grapevine: Dan’s Bagels, which has built a loyal following over the past five years at its original shop in Trophy Club, has spun off a new location in Grapevine at 2647 Ira E. Woods Ave., in a former Besa's Pizza shop right on the border of Southlake.
Dan’s Bagels was founded by husband-and-wife Dan and Jennifer Hilbert, who've earned acclaim for their made-from-scratch sourdough bagels in Trophy Club, along with cream cheeses, sandwiches, and East Coast staples such as imported lox and Taylor ham.
What started as a couple testing bagel recipes at home during the pandemic has grown into a thriving bakery, now with three locations, including a second shop they opened in Fort Worth in November.
While the Fort Worth location was a franchise, Grapevine is a corporate-owned location using their “hub-and-spoke” model, meaning that the bagels will be made off-site at a brand-new Dan’s Bagels “hub” bakery in Southlake, then delivered to the Grapevine “spoke” store each morning.
The Southlake hub can produce between 5,000-7,000 bagels each day, eventually supplying up to five or six Dan’s Bagels locations. The 2,200-square-foot non-retail space uses an oven that can bake 560 bagels at once. The hub-and-spoke model benefits customers by ensuring that the same scratch-made bagels baked daily can be consistently delivered to all Dan’s Bagels locations.
The Hilberts plan to continue opening a mix of franchise and corporate-owned bagel shops using both the self-contained and “spoke” models, with hopes to have seven to 10 total locations by the end of 2026.
The new location in Grapevine has a small footprint, with customers having the option to wait outside or in their car and receive a text when their order is ready.
The outpost is currently in its soft-opening phase, with a grand opening planned for December 30, when the full menu will be offered.
