Popular bagel chain Dan's Bagels expands into new Fort Worth suburb

Sandwich at Dan's Bagels
A burgeoning local bagel chain is expanding with a brand new outlet in a neighboring Fort Worth city: Dan’s Bagels, a pandemic success story founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife Dan and Jen Hilbert, is opening a location in North Richland Hills, in a new shopping center at 9041 Mid Cities Blvd., just west of Precinct Line Road.
The location is a 1,460-square-foot space across from Birdville High School, and according to a release, will open on September 2.
The shop is from husband-and-wife franchisees Dave and Brandi McAvoy, who were drawn to the concept after Dave tried their bagels and began exploring how they could get involved. The couple is currently putting final touches on the space and learning the ropes from the Hilberts including how to make the perfect bagel sandwich.
Dan and Jen Hilbert quit their corporate jobs and established Dan’s Bagels in April 2020, craving bagels they'd enjoyed while living in New York. They began selling sourdough bagels out of their home in the thick of the pandemic baking period when people were re-embracing baking and breads of all kinds.
They opened their first storefront in Trophy Club in 2021, and have since opened locations in Fort Worth and Argyle, partnered with franchisees; and Grapevine, which is a corporate-owned store.
The chain has built a following for its sourdough bagels made via a three-day process, in varieties such as Plain, Everything, Sesame Seed, Poppy Seed, Salt, Garlic Salt, Rosemary Salt, Asiago, Jalapeno Cheddar, Onion, Garlic, Cinnamon Raisin, Blueberry Pie, and Cinnamon Sugar Crunch.
They also rotate in seasonal specials, some viral such as their buzzy rainbow-hued bagel, or a red-white-and-blue bagel on Memorial Day.
They also do popular (though not-kosher) bagel sandwiches such as BLT, smoked turkey club, pastrami reuben, chicken salad, and tuna salad.
North Richland Hills will be the fifth location. According to the release, each location is locally owned and opened with the intent of being a true neighborhood spot.
