Need to beat the heat (and boredom) with the kiddos? There are two kids' cooking classes this week – one that’s a three-day culinary camp. Adults can keep cool (and sane) by sipping summer wines or go straight to the tequila during a complimentary tequila tasting this Thursday.

Kids’ Summer Culinary Camp at Indulge
The downtown culinary studio inside 3rd Street Market will host multiple weeks of cooking camps geared toward young chefs. Camps are offered in three-day series and run two- to two-and-a-half hours starting at 10 am. This week will cover pizza, breakfast muffins, chocolate chip cookies, skillet frittata, and sushi rolls. Kiddos will work in small groups of three to four. The camp is $175 and is for ages 7 and up.

Summer Wine Series at The Sanford House Inn & Spa
The Arlington spa and dining destination will host a summer wine tasting every Wednesday this summer. Open to the public, the event invites guests to enjoy two glasses of summer wines paired with chef’s choice hors d’oeuvres for $30. The pairing will take place at Restaurant 506 inside The Sanford House Inn. Come and go from 5-6:30 pm.

Meet the Maker: Altos Tequila at Toro Toro
It’s the last Thursday of the month, which means Toro Toro Pan-Latin steakhouse will host its complimentary Meet the Maker tasting event. Visit between 5-7 pm to sample Altos Tequila and enjoy happy hour pricing on craft cocktails. Bonus that valet is always complimentary for restaurant patrons.

Junior Chefs Camp at the Gaylord Texan
The Grapevine hotel and resort will host a kids' cooking class open to both the public and overnight guests. Students will learn how to make “surprise cupcakes” filled with edible confetti and candy, along with sugar cookie flowers to build an edible bouquet. The class is $130, and adults can join their child for $40 more. Class will run from 11 am-2 pm and will take place inside the hotel’s Zeppole restaurant.
Sons Coffee Roasters tasting at Soma Winery
Sons Coffee Roasters will present samples of three single-origin coffees plus light bites: fresh fruit, vegetarian quiche, and vegan scones from local bakers. The event will take place 11 am-1 pm at Soma Winery, 201 S. Main St., Reservations are $25; call 682-516-9242 for a spot.

The Generous Pour at The Capital Grille
The luxe steakhouse will launch its 15th annual summer wine tasting promotion, allowing guests to sample a variety of world-class wines for $35 with the purchase of dinner. This year, seven wines not typically available by the glass will be available for pairing for the one-time price. Wines were selected by award-winning winemakers from Orin Swift Cellars and J Vineyards. The promotion will run through September 3.
