A downtown Fort Worth rooftop bar is pairing cheese with palettes during an interactive class on cheeseboard making. The creativity continues this week with mahjong and cocktails, Wagyu and craft beer flights, Juneteenth celebrations, and whiskey sipping and solar gazing. Wagyu Steak Flight Pairing at Maple Branch Craft Brewery
Maple Branch is upping its flight game with a pairing of four craft beers with four steak cuts and four scratch-made sauces. The lineup includes top sirloin with chimichurri sauce, top round with bearnaise sauce, New York strip with sesame sauce, and skirt steak with horseradish sauce, each served with a different beer tasting. The steak flight, $28, will available through Sunday from 11 am-9 pm.
Mahjong Night at Piattello
Mahjong is back at Marcus Paslay’s Italian restaurant in Waterside, Piattello, which is set to move to Clearfork this fall. Tickets are $80 for a beginner mahjong lesson, or $45 for open play for the pros. A cocktail and chef bites are included. The event will run from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Painted Palettes at Annex
Art meets cheeseboards during this creative experience at the rooftop bar atop the Le Meridien hotel downtown. Create your own edible masterpiece (to be enjoyed on-site) using an easel and an array of infused cream cheeses, micro flowers, fresh herbs, dried fruits, and nuts during this guided session. The $59 ticket includes a glass of rosé and complimentary valet parking. The class begins at 7 pm and will be held on Thursday and Friday with limited spots. Stay for reverse happy hour afterward, including 30 percent off beer and wine and $18 pizzas.

Solar Gazing with Fort Worth Astronomical Society at TX Whiskey
Sip, savor, and look to the skies as TX Whiskey partners with the Fort Worth Astronomical Society for a come-and-go solar viewing experience. Using specialized solar telescopes, guests may safely check out the sun at various viewing stations while knowledgeable guides help answer questions. The $11.99 ticket includes a TX Whiskey cocktail. Time slots available 6-7:30 pm. There’ll also be live music and food truck fare until 9 pm.
Cook the Book - The Rise: Black Cooks and the Soul of American Food at Central Market
This hands-on class at Central Market Fort Worth Cooking School will feature recipes from chef, best-selling author, and TV star Marcus Samuelsson’s cookbook, The Rise: Black Cooks and the Soul of American Food. Participants will work in small teams to create a meatless meal including plantains with suya spice dip, gold coconut broken rice with tamarind glazed halibut, roasted carrots with ayib and awaze vinaigrette, and Montego Bay rum cake. A copy of the cookbook is included in the $85 price, plus a small fee. Class begins at 6:30 pm. (Note that the author will not be in attendance.)
Juneteenth Supper Club at Magdalena's
For its monthly supper club dinner, the chef-driven restaurant will host its second annual Juneteenth party, with dishes highlighting cuisine from West Africa to the West Indies. Courses include Calamari Ceviche, West African Peanut Soup, Roasted Guinea Fowl, Blackberry Malva Cake, and more. Tickets start at $98, and the dinner begins at 7 pm.

Father's Day Cookout at the Fort Worth Zoo
Go “wild” with Dad during this after-hours cookout at the Fort Worth Zoo featuring dinner, a meet-and-greet with outreach animals, open habitats in Texas Wild! and free rides on the Yellow Rose Express Train and Country Carousel. The $95 ticket also includes one coyote adoption for Dad. The event begins at 6:30 pm. Note that tickets do not include daytime zoo admission.
