There are also opportunities for some culinary education, from how to cook with Hatch chiles to simmering risotto at a supper club. Kids can also learn how to make stromboli at a pizza parlor. The longtime family-owned Everman barbecue joint will celebrate 50 years in business with an all-day birthday party. They'll offer $6 chop sandwiches, $5 margaritas, $3 beers, and complimentary cake and ice cream. The specials and celebration will run all day from 8 am-8 pm.

National Steinholding Championship Qualifying Round at Crystal Springs Hideaway
Crystal Springs Hideaway is hosting qualifying events for the U.S Steinholding Association National Steinholding Championship, to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 21. Participants will test their arm strength by holding a full one-liter stein straight out, parallel to the ground with no leaning, bending, or beer-spilling. Watch the action with food and drink specials, including $3 German beers and 20 percent off the Beer Lover’s Board (normally $23), which feeds two to three and includes jalapeno smoked gouda, Texas summer sausage, pretzel bites, and more. The contest will begin at 7:30 pm, but the specials will run all day. Qualifying rounds will be held at Crystal Springs on Thursdays through September 3, leading up to the local qualifier at Fort Worth Oktoberfest on September 24 before the state finals at Wurstfest in New Braunfels on November 15.

Learn @ Lunch: Hatch Chiles with Southwestern Style at Central Market
Central Market Fort Worth will host a how-to class on incorporating Hatch chiles into quick and easy meals. Participants will watch and sample while chefs demonstrate. The menu includes Hatch corn muffins, Hatch chile and chicken enchiladas, apple and jicama slaw with Hatch chile dressing, and vanilla ice cream with pinon caramel sauce. Tickets are $35 and the class will run from 12-1 pm.
Rosé on the Patio at The Crescent
At this evening soiree on the courtyard patio at Emilia’s inside The Crescent, guests can taste more than a dozen elegant sparkling and still rosés from France, Spain, Italy, and the US. Hors d’oeuvres for pairing by Emilia’s new executive chef Sean Malek range from red snapper crudo and Texas melon with ibérico ham to corn fritters with pickled jalapeno aioli and desserts with Texas peaches and Valrhona chocolate. Tickets start at $40 for one glass of rosé and access to all food stations, or go VIP for $90 and get unlimited rosé tastings and early entry at 5:30 pm. General admission is 6 pm and the event will run until 8 pm.
Risotto Cooking Class at Magdalena’s
The folks behind one of Fort Worth’s most popular supper clubs will host a hands-on culinary class featuring the art and versatility of risotto. Learn how to make the dish during guided instruction, then enjoy the final product. Bonus: The class is BYOB. Tickets are $95 and the class will run from 6-8 pm.

Adult Recess: Snacks & Sips Wine Pairing at Messina Hof Grapevine Winery
This creative wine pairing in historic downtown Grapevine (just a short train ride away on the TEXRail) will feature a grown-up spin on nostalgic lunchbox snacks, after school treats, and cafeteria classics. The $54 ticket includes four wines and four pairings, and the tasting will run from 1-3 pm.

30th Annual Hatch Chile Festival Brunch at Blue Mesa
The Southwestern-inspired grill will mark 30 years of celebrating New Mexico’s most famous pepper with a special brunch. Features from this year’s menu include fried Hatch strips, Hatch pozole, stacked chicken enchiladas, Hatch cheese relleno, and cajeta swirl Hatch brownies with vanilla ice cream. Brunch is $30 ($15 for kids 6-11). Mimosas are included, and guests can also add a Hatch chile-infused Dirty Thirty margarita made with reposado tequila and tamarind nectar for $13. Brunch will be served from 9:30 am-3:30 pm.
Kids Love 2 Cook Class at Tony’s Pizza & Pour House
The Jacksboro Highway pizza joint will host a hands-on stromboli class for kids. Class times are 12 pm and 2 pm and the fee is $20. Call ahead to ensure a spot, at 817-238-0084.
Sunset Sculpt at Saddlerock Wine & Beer Co.
Those who aren't afraid of the evening heat can end the weekend with a sunset sweat session under the shade trees at Saddlerock Wine & Beer Co. The mat Pilates class includes a post-class glass of Saddlerock’s signature sparkling brut and the chance to relax and enjoy expansive views of downtown Fort Worth. Tickets are $20 and the event begins at 7:30 pm.
