After months of build-up, the total solar eclipse finally arrives on Monday. (Be ready with your eclipse glasses around 1:40 pm.) With North Texas falling in the path of totality, numerous restaurants, bars, and hotels are jumping on the opportunity to celebrate the rare occurrence with themed events. Find our master list of watching parties here, but also note some of the tasty eclipse-inspired events happening this weekend. This week also marks the arrival of Fort Worth's biggest feeding frenzy, the four-day Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival. Tickets for some events have already sold out, but find what's still available listed below.
Thursday, April 4
Handel’s Ice Cream Arlington Grand Opening
Cult-favorite Ohio-based ice cream brand will celebrate the grand opening of its Arlington store with a big giveaway. Be one of the first 100 customers in line (no saving spots) and receive free ice cream for a year. The lucky 100 will get a card good for one free small cone or dish every week, redeemable at the Arlington location only. Fan-favorite flavors include black cherry, salty caramel truffle, and the Ohio-inspired “Buckeye.” The store will open at 11 am.
Unveiling the Eclipse: Hotel Vin x Blackland Distillery Bourbon Dinner
In honor of Monday’s total solar eclipse, Blackland Distillery has created a special Eclipse Bourbon exclusively for Grapevine’s Hotel Vin. Be the first to try it during this launch party dinner, where guests will partake in the bourbon in a welcome cocktail. Menu items include roasted pork with wild mushrooms, family-style sides, salads, appetizers, and a tiramisu layer cake. The dinner is $133 including taxes and fees, and begins at 6 pm.

Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival
While the annual four-day feasting frenzy actually begins on Thursday, the first two legs of the festival (
Tacos + Tequila and The Main Event) are already completely sold out. Limited tickets are available for the remaining three events, all set to take place at the Heart of the Ranch at Clearfork Saturday and Sunday.
Rise + Dine
Brunch-themed tasting event on Saturday will feature bites from nearly two dozen talented chefs, including Jenny Castor (Luckybee Kitchen), Gigi Howell (repping West Side Café for this one), and Cedric and Reggie Robinson (Lil’ Boy Blue BBQ), to name a few. Tickets are $65 for general admission from 12–2:30 pm.
Burgers, Brews + Blues
Saturday evening event under the stars lets guests select their favorite burger and craft beer with nearly 20 to choose from for each. Sliders of all kinds will be presented by Big Kat Burgers, Fred’s Texas Café, Heim BBQ, The Meat Board, and many more. General admission tickets are $85 and the event will run from 6:30–9 pm.
Ring of Fire
The festival commences with a Sunday afternoon barbecue around multiple campfires, where two dozen chefs and pitmasters will get creative with smoke. Participants include Terry Black’s BBQ, Toro Toro, and Tokyo Café. General admission tickets are $85 and the event will run from 2–5 pm.
Sunday, April 7
Eclipse Weekend Whiskey Dinner at 97 West Kitchen & Bar
Ahead of Monday’s total solar eclipse, Hotel Drover’s rustic-luxe restaurant will host a multi-course bourbon pairing dinner featuring Garrison Brothers Distillery. Festivities will begin with an outdoor cocktail reception featuring an expert astronomer from the Carnegie Institution for Science, who’ll share insights on what to expect come eclipse time. Menu highlights include smoked bison New York strip and Garrison Brothers whiskey cake with mascarpone ice cream. Each course will be served with a different Garrison Brothers bourbon – whether neat or in a cocktail. The event is $250 plus tax and gratuity, and begins at 5 pm.
Solar Eclipse Event & Happy Hour at The Worthington
Downtown hotel will host NASA Einstein Fellow at Caltech, Dr. Kyle Kremer, for an enlightening happy hour before Monday’s total solar eclipse. The collab with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science will feature a curated menu of eclipse-themed food and drinks to go with the presentation. The complimentary event will run from 5–7 pm.
