Fort Worth's acclaimed Mariachi's Dine-In, home to Mexican & vegan, to close
An award-winning Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth is closing: Mariachi's Dine-In, famous for its dual menu with regular and vegan dishes, will close after six years in operation.
The restaurant will close on May 31.
According to owner Ashley Miller, the restaurant is closing because her family is leaving the Fort Worth area.
"The reasons for closing are simple: my family is relocating across the country for work," she says.
In a Facebook post, Miller said that the move had been in the works for some time.
"While this may seem sudden, I notified my wonderful staff three weeks ago of this change and have been quietly sharing the news with our regulars," she said. "This ending is bittersweet, but I am full of gratitude. When I moved to Fort Worth nine years ago, my dream was to own and operate a business. Hard work and the love from this city has helped me realize those dreams. It's been my privilege to be the owner-operator and cofounder of Mariachi's, and I could not be more thankful for the support of my staff, regulars, mentors, and family."
Miller opened the restaurant in July 2018 in the Near Riverside district in a gas station at 301 S. Sylvania Ave., promising a Mexican food like never seen before: traditional Monterrey street food and vegan cuisine, serving both classic and vegan tacos, quesadillas, bowls, burritos, sopes, elotes, and more.
After three years at the original location, they relocated to their current address in Ridglea Hills in the former Mariposa's Latin Kitchen space at 5724 Locke Ave., which came equipped with a larger dining room, kitchen, and full-service bar.
Mariachi's was part of the vegan Mexican food trend, which DFW helped found, and also part of the birria taco trend, that crusty cheesy version of taco which it offered both in beef and vegan versions (with shredded jackfruit).
The restaurant was also a foundation of Fort Worth's thriving vegan scene, alongside restaurants such as Pizza Verde, It's Food, Belenty's Love, and Spiral Diner.
Miller provided a supportive platform to an in-house pop-up, VBQ Smokehouse, which served a vegan version of BBQ out of the restaurant during off-hours in early 2024.
Mariachi's received much acclaim including being ranked as one of the 5 hot vegan restaurants in Fort Worth, as well as the 10 best Fort Worth restaurants in 2021.
"It's been my honor to serve alongside such a diverse, unique, welcoming team of people. Thank you for all the love, Fort Worth," she said.
