Ice cream shop departs Fort Worth's Sundance Square after 5 years
An ice cream shop is leaving Fort Worth's Sundance Square: Melt Ice Creams will close its shop at 308 Houston St. after five years. According to a post from the shop, they'll be closing on September 8.
Melt is the concept founded by Kari Crowe-Seher in 2014, with an eclectic menu creative artisanal flavors, with names like Beans, Chocolate Chocolate, Cookie Crack, Saltlick, Cup of TX, and Velvet Vegan.
The Sundance shop opened in 2019 in what had previously been a Paciugo gelato shop. It was the third location for Melt at the time, following an outpost in Dallas' Bishop Arts district and their original shop on Magnolia Avenue.
While the departure of Melt is sad news for downtown Fort Worth, the shop is preparing to open another location in The District at Willow Park, a high-end restaurant row and entertainment venue in Parker County. For Crowe-Seher, it was a dream to expand westward. (Willow Park is about 20 miles west of downtown Fort Worth.)
And their ice cream can now also be found in certain grocery stores around DFW including Central Market and some Whole Foods.
In its goodbye post, the shop expressed remorse combined with gratitude, stating that "we’ve created so many happy memories with our downtown community and are grateful for your support over the years."
"Though this location is closing, our other shops remain open and we’re excited to share upcoming developments in downtown Fort Worth," the post said. "We invite everyone to visit our Sundance Square scoop shop one last time to celebrate the end of this chapter with us and say goodbye to our incredible staff at this shop."
