Calif pizza chain proud of its curly pepperoni opens in Mansfield
A California-based chain known for its mountain-sized pizzas is now open in Mansfield: Mountain Mike’s Pizza has opened a location at 1670 E Broad St., at the corner of US 287, an extremely buzzy spot which is also home to an H-E-B supermarket that opened there in June.
Mountain Mike's was founded in Palo Alto, and is growing quickly with more than 250 locations across California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Wisconsin, and Texas including eight in the DFW area and two in Houston.
Their signature is their "legendary crispy curly pepperoni," where the pepperoni slices curve up into little cups. This is accomplished by enclosing the pepperoni in a collagen casing which causes it to shrink in the oven into little cups.
Varieties include an all-meat, a vegetarian olive & mushroom, and a garlic combo, with mushroom, olives, & pepperoni. Other varieties include a bacon pizza, a chicken club pizza, and a garlic chicken pizza.
Non-pizza items include wings in a variety of flavors, both boneless and bone-in, plus salads, mozzarella sticks, crinkle-cut wedge potato fries, desserts, beer, and wine.
The chain made its Texas debut in 2022, opening locations in Lewisville, Grand Prairie, Saginaw, which opened in May, and Melissa, which opened in August.
The Mansfield location is from Dallas-Fort Worth residents (and Mountain Mike’s Pizza multi-unit franchisees) Ramein Gerami and Min Chang. The locatoin boasts a family-friendly atmosphere plus six big-screen TVs for sports events.
The location also includes an all-you-can-eat pizza and salad bar, weekday lunch buffet, kids’ arcade area, plus craft beer and wine and complimentary Wi-Fi.
