Where to drink
Where to drink in Fort Worth: 5 spots with seriously pretty cocktails
After a scorcher of a summer with relentless heat and more than two months without rain, Fort Worth deserves to quench its thirst with something pretty. These destinations offer elegant interiors with cocktails to match, and since it's not quite patio season, they're perfect places for grabbing a seat at the bar to sip in style. Here are five hot spots for beautiful drinks to enjoy right now.
Almacen el Gallo
Fort Worth’s hottest new dining destination is Almacen el Gallo (500 W. 7th St.), which opened downtown in July in the former Neighbor’s House space. It's built fans fans of its contemporary Mexican cuisine, as well as its thoughtfully designed cocktails. Each are served with a coaster featuring a card from the Mexican bingo game, Loteria – an homage to time-honored Mexican culture – and many are named for characters from the game itself. La Dama (“the lady”) is pretty in pink with watermelon syrup spiked with mezcal. El Catrín (“the gentleman”) is a handsome number made with reserve tequila and tamarind syrup, and El Maíz (“the corn”) is uniquely made with Nixta corn liqueur, atole syrup, and garnished with a ribbon of corn husk. Find the cocktails on happy hour Monday through Thursday from 3-6 pm.
Beren Meze & Grill House
Having moved into the former Maiden vegan restaurant space in April, Beren Meze & Grill (1216 6th Ave.) is drawing a regular clientele for its traditional Turkish cuisine, along with its stylish digs and chic, skillfully composed cocktails. A sleek olive-green bar with a trio of arched mirrors anchors the restaurant’s loungey, mid-century modern interior. House cocktails are far from ordinary, many featuring Turkish-inspired elements such as cardamom tincture, sumac brine, and smoked rosemary olives. Try the Turkish Cowboy infused with honey-saffron syrup, dark rye whiskey, and Turkish black tea.
West + Stone
The Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown Hotel’s lobby level restaurant and bar, West + Stone (1701 Commerce St.), is a surprising spot for great cocktails. A new fall-inspired drink lineup includes pretty selections like the pink-hued Cattleman’s Gun, shaken with blood orange cordial, Bacardi rum, and toasted coconut; and the Spiced Pear Paloma, garnished with a dehydrated pear and fall spices. There are even more visually appealing cocktails on the happy hour menu, like the Chipotle Pineapple Margarita and the crimson Raspberry Manhattan. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 5-7 pm, featuring a limited menu of cocktails for $8 each.
Dos Mares
A taste of the Mexican coast can be found at Dos Mares (3260 W. 7th St.), the seafood-centric sister restaurant to Don Artemio, where everything from the ceviche to the cocktails evokes images of ocean waves. Expertly crafted cocteles de la casa take guests on a vacation, such as the Té en Kioto y Acapulco, made with Earl Grey tea, Mexican sake, Blackland gin, ginger, and lemon juice; and the Kiwi Coconut Margarita dressed with a spiced rim. But the real stunner is Dos Mares’ “Tiny Martini Tree,” designed for four or more guests and offering 12 mini versions of craft cocktails, including Cosmopolitan, Pomegranate Martini, Mexican Martini, Espresso Martini, Dirty Martini, and a classic martini with choice of gin or vodka. Cocktails are $4 off during Dos Mares' new happy hour, which runs daily from 3-6 pm.
Le Margot
It’s only fitting that a place exuding such bold, Parisian elegance as Le Margot would have glamourous cocktails to match. The modern French dining destination (3150 S. Hulen St.) is unmistakable for its dramatic showpiece bar, which boasts plush, polka-dotted barstools in crimson, rich woods, fresh floral, and framed photography. Beautiful cocktails have drawn date night diners and girl groups since its opening in 2023, with the Ooh Là Là – an orange vodka concoction infused with strawberry syrup served in a coup glass garnished with bubble gum pink cotton candy – taking social media by storm ever since. Other showstopping sips include the baby yellow-toned, lemon vodka-based City of Lights made frothy with egg whites; and the lavender-colored Papillon Violette made with Empress 1908 Indigo Gin. Visit for happy hour daily from 3-6 pm when house cocktails are $7.
