A family-friendly restaurant park with burgers and tacos is about to debut in North Richland Hills. Located at 5301 Davis Blvd. #100 at the northwest corner of Lola Drive, the park will feature a Jakes burger restaurant as well as a location of taco-happy restaurant Tacos & Avocados.
According to a release, the Jakes will open in mid- to late October, with Tacos & Avocados coming online in the following weeks.
The park is from MAD Concepts Group, the Addison-based parent company to Jakes and Tacos & Avocados, and is a growing concept for the company, who launched the first restaurant park — also with a Jakes and a Tacos & Avocados — in Benbrook in April 2026.
The development, which has been in the works for more than a year, grinding through the approval process from the city of North Richland Hills, will include two full-service restaurants with patios, bars, and approximately 10,000 square feet of indoor dining.
What makes the park special is the inclusion of an outdoor space called The Backyard, situated at the heart of the property, between the two restaurants. The Backyard features open green space, lawn games, community events, and family activities — creating a place where guests can linger after they've finished their meal.
"We've always believed restaurants should be more than places to eat," says MAD Concepts co-founder and COO Bob Gregg in a statement. "The Backyard is our way of creating spaces where communities come together, where birthdays are celebrated, kids can play while parents relax, friends gather after work, and neighbors become regulars. That's the kind of experience we're building."
The idea of putting the two concepts side-by-side is to create complementary dining experiences. If you don't feel like a burger, maybe a taco will do.
Jakes was founded in 1985 in East Dallas, and was acquired by Mad Concepts Group in 2021. There are currently 14 locations across DFW. They specialize in burgers and hand-cut fries, but they've expanded their menu to include dishes such as chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, wings, nachos, mac & cheese bowls, and entree-style platters like chicken-fried steak and grilled chicken with choice of two sides.
Tacos & Avocados was launched in in 2024 with a "Mex-Tex" approach to Mexican cuisine, blending authentic recipes with Texas traditions. Taco options include chorizo, green chile pork, chicken, shrimp, trendy quesobirria, and a "gringo" taco filled with ground beef. They have protein bowls with rice, charro beans, caramelized peppers & onions, guacamole, roasted corn, topped with choice of protein; as well as fajitas and enchiladas including sour cream chicken, a DFW favorite. There's also a big selection of cocktails including margaritas, with seasonal flavors such as the current pumpkin margarita, made from Casamigos reposado, Gran Gala orange liqueur, pumpkin, and citrus.
This will be a third Tacos & Avocados, joining locations in Benbrook and Carrollton which opened in November 2024.
