Austin chain Chuy's Tex-Mex brings Elvis enchiladas to west Fort Worth
Austin Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s Tex-Mex is opening a new restaurant in Hudson Oaks, about 25 miles west of Fort Worth, and according to a release, that opening takes place on August 27. Festivities will commence at 11 am.
The address of Chuy’s Hudson Oaks is 2701 E. I-20 — just east of Weatherford, on the frontage road, in a location that until 2020 was just a patch of prairie. So sorry, prairie critters! The people need Tex-Mex.
Founded in Austin in 1982, Chuy's serves Tex-Mex, featuring family recipes from south Texas, New Mexico, and Mexican border towns, with a reputation as a fun and friendly spot to eat Tex-Mex at a great price.
Chuy’s Hudson Oaks will feature signature dishes such as Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas, The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo — which btw has a beef Tex-Mex enchilada, a cheese Ranchero enchilada, a chicken Tomatillo enchilada, a ground sirloin crispy taco, and tostada chips dipped in chile con queso — and the Creamy Jalapeño Cilantro Dip.
Tortillas are house-made and margaritas are made with fresh-squeezed lime juice and served with special jalapeño stuffed olives.
Happy Hour specials include $5 Queso, discounts on Chuy’s Famous Ritas, crafted with fresh-squeezed lime juice, and more, available weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Hudson Oaks location will feature the quirky, one-of-a-kind décor for which Chuy's is known, including an Elvis shrine and a dog wall where guests can bring in a framed photo of their pet for a free appetizer, plus other features that are unique to the location.
This marks the 12th Chuy's location in DFW but it's the first in Parker County — joining neighboring locations in north Fort Worth, downtown Fort Worth, and Southlake on the west side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
The chain is being forced to move its longtime location in Dallas' Knox Street district at 4544 McKinney Ave. after 31 years at that address so that the owners of Knox Street can build another high-rise. That restaurant is relocating to a somewhat ill-fated spot at 1520 Greenville Ave.
In July, Chuy's was acquired by Darden Restaurants, the hospitality company that owns other big-name chains, such as Olive Garden and The Capital Grille.
