"Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience"
Not to be confused with "Immersive Van Gogh," a similar exhibition taking place in downtown Dallas, "Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience" allows visitors to fulfill the dream of stepping into a masterpiece painting. The 360-degree, immersive digital art experience illuminates and transforms a unique physical space into a fully immersive exhibit, where Van Gogh’s work takes over the walls via digital projections and VR experiences. The exhibition will run almost daily through November 28 at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
CultureMap Dallas-Fort Worth Tastemaker Awards
The CultureMap Tastemaker Awards is the annual celebration of the top talent in Dallas-Fort Worth's restaurant and bar communities, as selected by their peers. The mission of the event is to shine a spotlight on the people making the local restaurant scene special and honor their innovation, energy, and creativity. At the event, taking place at Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas, we will celebrate all of the nominees and unveil the winners, and guests will be able to sample bites and sip specialty drinks along the way.

Magnolia at the Modern: White as Snow
Claire, a young woman of great beauty, arouses the uncontrollable jealousy of her stepmother, Maud, who goes so far as to plan her murder. Rescued at the last moment by a mysterious man who takes her in on his farm, Claire decides to remain in the village, a decision that will awaken the emotions of its inhabitants. One, two, and soon seven men will fall under her spell. For her, it is the beginning of a radical emancipation that is both carnal and emotional. The film will screen four times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
North Texas Fair & Rodeo
Just like the State Fair of Texas, the North Texas Fair & Rodeo returns after a year off due to the pandemic. The nine-day event, taking place through August 28 at North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton, offers activities for all ages, including live concerts, horse & livestock shows, contests, cook-offs, food, fun, games, and more. Music performers will include Midland, Flatland Cavalry, Terri Clark, Sawyer Brown, Randall King, and more.
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents Anime at the Modern
The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth will celebrate the Japanese anime genre, films that are visually stunning, richly imaginative, and poetic in their story telling. The films, curated and introduced by Dr. Marc Hairston and Dr. Christine Veras, will include Mind Game, Patema Inverted, Earwig and the Witch, and Ride Your Wave. Screenings will take place through Sunday.
One Woman Sex and the City: A Parody of Love, Friendship, and Shoes
One Woman Sex and the City: A Parody of Love, Friendship, and Shoes is a laughter-infused tribute featuring iconic moments of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda in New York City. There will be puns, cosmopolitans, and deal breakers. The production will take place on both Friday and Saturday at Downtown Cowtown at the Isis.
Hyena's presents Steven Michael Quezada
For anyone who only knows Steven Michael Quezada for playing DEA Agent Steven Gomez in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the fact that he's a comedian may come as a surprise. With a career in the entertainment industry spanning more than three decades, Quezada has worked alongside some of the biggest names in show business, including George Lopez, Rob Zombie, Joe Pesci, Helen Mirren, and Danny Trejo, among others. He'll perform twice on Friday and twice on Saturday at Hyena's Comedy Club in downtown Fort Worth.
The Arts Council of Fort Worth and AURORA present "New Stories: New Futures"
The Arts Council of Fort Worth and AURORA are partnering to present "New Stories: New Futures," a uniquely Fort Worth art event featuring historic and modern perspectives, stories, and memories from the region. One part of the project unfolds at Pioneer Tower, onto which international artists Refik Anadol and Quayola will project brand new artworks inspired by the city and its inhabitants. The second part of the project will take place on the grounds of the Will Rogers Memorial Center in the form of a supporting exhibition featuring artworks by 10 North Texas new media artists. The art installations will be presented between 9 pm and 1 am on both Friday and Saturday.
Kid Rock in concert
In recent years, Kid Rock has become a lightning rod due to his politics, but before that he was known as the brash rap rocker who delivered hit songs like "Batwitdaba,""Picture," and "All Summer Long." His most recent album was 2017's Sweet Southern Sugar. He'll play at Billy Bob's Texas four times over the next two weekends, including once on Friday and once on Saturday.

Chris Stapleton's All-American Roadshow
The third time's the charm when it comes to this all-star country music blowout event. Originally scheduled for last summer, it was postponed to November 2020 and then to this date because of the pandemic that just won't quit. The lineup is about as big as you can get, featuring headliner Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson & Family, Jamey Johnson, and Yola. The concert takes place at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Amon Carter Museum of American Art presents "An Expanding Vision: Six Decades of Works on Paper" closing day
Sunday is the final day to view "An Expanding Vision: Six Decades of Works on Paper" at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. The exhibition is in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the museum, revisiting key moments in the Carter’s history of collecting works on paper, highlighting the museum’s path to becoming one of the finest collections of American art in the country. The exhibition illustrates how the works on paper collection has helped the Carter tell a more expansive and inclusive story of American art.
The Wallflowers in concert
Rock band The Wallflowers, fronted by Bob Dylan's son Jakob, were a big deal back in the 1990s, especially when the band released its 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse, which featured hits like "One Headlight" and "The Difference." The band's output has been minimal in the 2000s, but they just released their first album in nine years, Exit Wounds. They'll play at Billy Bob's Texas.
The CultureMap Dallas-Fort Worth Tastemaker Awards will take place at Fashion Industry Gallery on August 19.
