The More Alamo the Better
New DFW Alamo Drafthouse premieres with discounts for grand opening
Six months after it was first announced, Alamo Drafthouse Denton will open to the public on June 18, the company says. It will host four days of soft opening screenings, with food discounts, to mark the grand opening.
Alamo Drafthouse Denton will be the first location in Texas, and just the second theater across the brand, to feature the company’s next-generation Premium Large Format standard, The Big Show. The auditorium features 232 seats, all of which are recliners, and a state-of-the-art Sony 4K Laser Dual projection system optimized for the enormous, curved screen that stands 66 feet wide by 28 feet tall. The system also includes 36 speakers with Dolby Atmos audio technology that will provide an immersive, three-dimensional audio experience.
The Denton location will have eight auditoriums ranging in size from 49 to 232 seats, all of which are recliners, allowing seating for a total of 880 moviegoers. The location, which is Alamo's fifth in Dallas-Fort Worth, is part of the Rayzor Ranch Town Center, a shopping, dining and entertainment destination located at I-35 and Highway 380.
Tickets for the soft opening will go on sale soon at drafthouse.com. The theater is opening just in time for one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which opens on June 22. It will also feature Alamo Drafthouse’s signature eclectic repertory programming, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show Movie Parties in celebration of the theater’s Rocky Horror themed lobby, and a “Big Movies on the Big Screen” series showcasing The Big Show.
Staff training days, where guests will discounted food and non-alcoholic drinks while staff train in the new space, will run June 18-21. The theater is also home to Vetted Well, a bar and event space featuring an extensive lineup of local craft beer.
