A new themed escape room inspired by a buzzy series on Hulu is coming to town: The show is Only Murders in the Building, the Emmy-award-winning series, and the escape room will open at The Escape Game in Grapevine Mills Mall on Saturday, February 8.

The escape room experience revolves around the Hulu show’s three characters — Mabel, Oliver, and Charles-Haden, portrayed by Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin.

According to a release, this escape room will require players to retrieve a film reel containing evidence for a fictional murder which has mysteriously disappeared.

Participants will work together to find the footage as they make their way through hidden bookcase doorways, secret passageways, and other immersive elements.

Throughout the hour-long game, players will interact with props from the show; Only Murder superfans may also notice inspiration from the show’s storylines in the escape room’s prompts and decor.

The storyline is as follows:

The production of the Only Murders in the Building Movie is in jeopardy! The film reel, containing crucial scenes, has mysteriously disappeared from the set. Without it, Oliver's career could be over, and the movie will be a disaster. Desperate to find the missing reel, the trio-Oliver, Charles, and Mabel-need your help. Search through the intricately designed movie set, uncover hidden clues, and solve puzzles to track down the missing film reel. Your keen observation and detective skills are essential to saving the movie!

Tickets are $40 with a limited-time introductory price of $32 and can be purchased online.

The TV show on which it is based has been a smash thanks to its unlikely casting; high-profile guest stars such as Melissa McCarthy, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Galifianakis, Tea Leoni, and more; as well as the dry repartee between Short and Martin.

The Only Murders-themed escape room was created in 2024 and has residencies in only two other cities: Los Angeles and New York. Grapevine will be the third.

“We could not be more excited to be teaming up once again with Hulu to bring the world of Only Murders in the Building to Texas,” says Escape Game CMO and co-founder Jonathan Murrell in a statement. “The series gave us endless possibilities to create an adventure full of unexpected turns and thrilling surprises. We hope the escape room fulfills fans’ desiresimmerse themselves even further in the world of the show, offering an exciting and interactiway to connect with the story and characters they love.”
