1. Fort Worth suburb makes the list of best places to live in the U.S. Nearly a dozen Dallas-Fort Worth cities, including Mansfield, have landed among the best places to live in 2025, according to U.S. News & World Report.

2. Fort Worth restaurant on Eagle Mountain Lake will temporarily close. A Fort Worth restaurant and bar on the shore of Eagle Mountain Lake has closed. In good news, the space will be taken over by a new set of owners.

3. Fort Worth has gone crazy lately for Philly cheesesteaks. Philly cheesesteaks are having a moment in Fort Worth. Everywhere you turn, a new cheesesteak joint has popped up, especially within the past year. Here are the hottest cheesesteak spots in town.

4. 12 semifinalists named in 2025 Cliburn Piano Competition in Fort Worth. The field of competitors in the Seventeenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition was narrowed to 12 semifinalists, who are competing now. The field will be narrowed down to six finalists following the last performance on June 1.

5. Fort Worth rules Texas Monthly's new top 50 BBQ joints list of 2025. Eighteen Fort Worth-area barbecue restaurants have earned spots on the hottest barbecue list in Texas, via Texas Monthly magazine, and two Fort Worth favorites hit the coveted top 10.

Taylor Sheridan's Fort Worth-shot Landman renewed for Season 3

Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ oilfield drama Landman, short largely in Fort Worth, will return for a third season, the network revealed on December 5. A release date has not been given.

The announcement comes on the heels of a record-breaking second season.

"The second season of Landman premiered on Sunday, November 16th, and is set to be a top three series among all original content the week of November 17th and a top two series for the week of November 24th, according to Nielsen preliminary data," Paramount+ days in a release.

"From co-creator Taylor Sheridan, season two also struck viewership records for Paramount+, achieving over 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days on service," the release continues. "Views increased by +262% from the first season premiere, making it the most watched premiere for any original series for Paramount+."

Landman's Season 2 red-carpet premiere took place in Fort Worth on November 6. New episodes drop on Paramount+ each Sunday.

Landman is based on the Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown, which follows a story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping the climate, economy, and geopolitics. The first season of the series was released in fall 2024.

The series stars Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton, Oscar nominee Demi Moore, Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, and Oscar nominee Sam Elliott. Additional cast includes: Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore.

Sheridan has also produced other Texas-based shows, such as the breakout Yellowstone, its spinoff 1883, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

Landman has filmed around Fort Worth, at the Petroleum Club, Sundance Square, Hotel Drover, and more. Just as they did when Sheridan's 1883 came to town, fans made a sport of posting local star sightings on social media. Some lucky Fort Worth residents have even gotten to be extras in scenes shot in Cowtown.

Shooting around Fort Worth is convenient for Sheridan, who lives on a ranch near Weatherford with his wife, Nicole.

Sheridan is an honorary Fort Worthian who attended Pascal High School. He is the creator of the award-winning series Yellowstone, its prequels 1883 and 1923, and the forthcoming 1944, starring Matthew McConaughey.
