Revolver Brewing in Granbury partners with Bulleit Bourbon on new beer
Granbury brewery Revolver Brewing Company has partnered with an acclaimed bourbon maker to make a special limited-edition new beer.
Revolver collaborated with Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, a Kentucky bourbon company founded in 1987, on a beer called Hey Porter, a dark beer which has been aged in Bulleit Bourbon barrels.
The beer was aged in the barrels for four months, and has an ABV of 8 percent; some dark beers go as high as 13 percent, making this a pleasant surprise in that it won't get you hammered after drinking just one.
It also makes it easier to taste what the release calls "roasted and chocolate malt flavors" that "meld flawlessly" with the spice and toffee notes of the oak.
The beer is said to have a roasted malt flavor with caramel and dark fruit, and a finish combining dark chocolate with hops, wood, and slight vanilla.
They recommend you drink it in a snifter-style glass.
Bulleit Global Brand Director Ed Bello says in a statement that the collaboration with Revolver is part of their "Bulleit & Beer" series.
"For Bulleit, being a part of the local community is extremely important, and we do that by partnering with those who, like Revolver, are pushing boundaries to do new and innovative things in their craft," Bello says.
"When our friends at Revolver threw out the idea of taking one of their most popular beers and reimagining it with us, we were immediately on board and we could not be more excited for those in the Dallas Fort-Worth Area to experience this collaboration for themselves," he says.
The new beer was released on March 29, and will be a limited-edition release. It's available only in the Dallas-Fort Worth area at select on-premise locations, meaning bars only, no bottles or cans.
