This week in gluttony
It’s a week full of celebrations, from the grand opening of a new dumpling destination to the tapping of two new Texas bourbons. A new bubbly bar will also debut this week, and there’s even a party to pay homage to the all-important honeybee. As summer vacations start to wane, wine dinners are starting to fill the calendar, too.
Wednesday, August 17
Garrison Brothers Barrel Tap Launch at Toro Toro
Charlie Garrison of Texas-based Garrison Brothers Distillery will be on hand at the downtown hotel restaurant to show off his latest bourbons. Visit anytime from 5-7 pm to try Garrison Brothers' new “Small Batch” Texas straight bourbon whiskey, and HoneyDew Texas honey-infused bourbon. Both bourbons will be poured straight from their barrels via Garrison’s new barrel tap system. Also try them in two Toro Toro cocktail specials: La Vida Mocha made with Small Batch, and Twilight in Fort Worth made with HoneyDew. The event is complimentary.

The Pantry Grand Opening
West Magnolia Avenue has a new spot for savory Asian dumplings thanks to The Pantry, which will celebrate its grand opening with a fundraiser. The dumpling kitchen and destination for pantry goods is the brainchild of chefs Hao Tran and Natasha Bruton. During the grand opening, dumpling orders will be available for a donation to the North Texas Humane Society. (Limit two orders per person.) There’ll be a ribbon cutting at 11 am, but the event will run until 2 pm or sell-out.
