Cheba Hut sparks up new sandwich shop in buzziest area of Fort Worth

Acclaimed stoner-themed sandwich shop Cheba Hut is opening in one of the fastest-growing areas of Fort Worth, the Alliance corridor. A new restaurant will debut at 9833 N. Freeway, Ste. 171, on Monday, June 15, according to a release.
For those overwhelmed by the geography and all the new openings in far north Fort Worth, here's context: It's on the west side of I-35, north of Heritage Trace Parkway, steps from Keke's Breakfast Cafe. Chuy's is directly across the highway. (It's also convenient to Texas Motor Speedway, Alliance Airport, Alliance Town Center and the Tanger Outlet Mall, the release notes.)
The menu will feature Cheba Hut's highly regarded "toasted subs" and roster of sides, snacks and sweets guaranteed to satisfy any case of the munchies. Subs come in three sizes — nugs (4-inch), pinners (8-inch) and blunts (12-inch) — on white, wheat or garlic bread, with names inspired by classic cannabis strains. ("No menu items contain actual THC or anything else derived from hemp or cannabis plants," the release specifies.)
Popular options include the White Widow (Chicken, Bacon, Ranch), the Kali Mist (Spicy Club) and the Dank (Pizza). The menu also features bottomless Kool-Aid, chips, sweet treats such as Rice Krispies-style treats, and a full bar built for lingering.

Cheba Hut was founded in 1998 and aims to break the mold of mundane fast-casual concepts by becoming the first marijuana-themed sandwich "joint" — providing a memorable sandwich and munchie options in a chill, eclectic environment, they say.
They've since expanded to over 50 locations, including more than a dozen across DFW, where they have earned a fast and loyal following. Cheba Hut was nominated for Best Sandwich in the 2026 CultureMap Fort Worth Tastemaker Awards.
The Alliance location is from franchisee Chance Steed, a former professional poker player who grew up in Fort Worth, who was blown away by Cheba Hut after discovering it during a snowboarding trip to Colorado.
“My wife Angie and I look at this as more than a restaurant,” Steed says in the release. “It’s a place we want to operate like a true neighborhood hub. The goal is to build something where people can come in for a quick lunch or to hang out with friends. Fort Worth has a strong sense of community and authenticity, and Cheba Hut really aligns with that kind of everyday, come-as-you-are energy.”
Alliance is Steed’s third location, following Deep Ellum in Dallas and 8th Avenue in Fort Worth, with College Station on deck for next year and his long-term sights set on the entire DFW Metroplex, he says.
The Alliance shop will feature a custom mural by Colorado-based artist Josh Finley, described as "a Chebaverse mainstay," who created the piece inspired by nearby Texas Motor Speedway and Alliance Airport.
"The mural takes a playful spin on racing culture, featuring imaginative characters, airborne thrills and plenty of speed," the release says. "It’s equal parts local love letter and visual feast while guests await their tasty subs."
Once it opens June 15, Cheba Hut Alliance will be open daily from 10 am-midnight, truly serving those with a case of "midnight munchies."
