The open house event is intended to give guests a glimpse at the Botanic Garden’s event spaces for potential planning and requires a reservation. Admission is free, and the experience will run from 5:30-7:30 pm.

First Friday at The Modern
The first Friday of the month means Café Modern is open for dinner service during an evening that begins with live music, light bites, and a cash bar in the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s Grand Lobby. Pastry Artistry with Anne Ng & Jeremy Mandrell of ButterNubs at Central Market Cooking School
Before pastry chefs Anne Ng and Jeremy Mandrell founded ButterNubs shortbread cookies, the duo co-founded Bakery Lorraine in Central Texas, earning recognition from Southern Living and Conde Nast Traveler along with a James Beard Award nomination. The duo will visit the Central Market Fort Worth Cooking School for this demonstration class (participants won’t bake) with a menu to include tiramisu and a fruit tart and cream cake, both with vanilla mascarpone. Tickets are $90 and the class begins at 6:30 pm.

Sushi Workshop at the Culinary School of Fort Worth
Hosted by CocuSocial, this build-your-own sushi session will take place in the spacious professional kitchen of The Culinary School of Fort Worth. Participants will learn how to prepare sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and roll three different types: California, spicy tuna, and mango veggie. The class (which is also BYOB) is $59 and begins at 1 pm.

20th Anniversary Celebration at Lost Oak Winery
Burleson’s Lost Oak Winery will mark 20 years with big birthday bash. Visit for complimentary barrel tastings, winery and production tours with hay rides, live music, giveaways, a “leave your mark” barrel signing station, anniversary cake cutting, commemorative wine glasses, and plenty of anniversary toasts throughout the day. The celebration will run from 3-9 pm.

Labor Day Brunch at Chef Point Restaurant & Bar
The Colleyville fine dining destination that originated in a Watauga gas station will extend its popular weekend brunch to Monday for Labor Day. Standout menu items range from French toast bread pudding and chicken and waffles to blackened salmon with grits and crab Benedict. Brunch hours are 11 am-2 pm.
