Festival season is still in full swing as witnessed by two big ones happening in the mid-cities this week. There's also opportunity to wind down with wine and yoga, relax with bites and bubbly under the stars in a garden, or channel your inner cowboy or cowgirl at a whiskey distillery with a professional bull rider meet-and-greet. Lastly, get on the list for the first wine dinner at the 2024 CultureMap Fort Worth Tastemaker Award-winning Restaurant of the Year.

Churro Eating Challenge at El Chingon
Go from zero to a churro-eating hero during El Chingon’s inaugural churro eating contest. Contestants will have two minutes to eat as many churros as possible for a chance to win prizes. The contest will begin at 8 pm and entry is free.
Thursday, May 16
Vino and Vinyasa at WineHaus
Prepare to “zen out” during this all-levels yoga class hosted by Urban Yoga at the Park Place Avenue wine bar. The $15 ticket includes a post-class glass of bubbly. Arrive at 4:45 pm for a 5 pm start time, and BYO yoga mat.
Taste of Southlake
Benefiting the Tarrant Area Food Bank, the Taste of Southlake will feature more than two dozen area restaurants along with live music, beer, and wine. Participants include Mesero, Jane, Kirby’s Steakhouse, Wildwood, Truluck’s, Taverna Rossa, and more. Tickets are $70 for access to all food and two drink tickets, or pay $55 for food tastings only. The event will take place at The Westin Southlake from 5-8:30 pm.
Italian-American Wine Dinner at 61 Osteria
The 2024 CultureMap Tastemaker Award-winning Restaurant of the Year will host its first-ever wine pairing dinner. Highlights from the Italian-American menu include crispy provolone sticks with platinum Osetra caviar, traditional Venetian whipped salt cod, fettuccini Alfredo with preserved burgundy truffle, and house-made pork fennel sausage with Italian sweet peppers. The dinner is $159, plus tax and gratuity, and begins with a bubbly reception at 6:30 pm.

Main Street Fest
The 40th annual craft brew and wine festival will take place in historic downtown Grapevine, Friday through Sunday. There’ll be multiple craft beer tasting experiences, a wine pavilion, brews and bites pairing experiences, live music (headliners include Casey Donahew and Deep Blue Something), family-friendly activities, food, shopping, a kids zone, and much more. Adult tickets are $9, seniors (62+) and children (6-12) are $5, and a weekend pass is $20. The festival will run from 11 am-11 pm on Friday and Saturday and 11 am-6 pm on Sunday.
May After Hours in the Garden
It’s the last after-hours party of the spring season at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, this one featuring an intimate all-strings performance by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. The $25 ticket ($18 for members) includes one wine, beer, or non-alcoholic beverage and light bites. Additional drinks will be available for purchase. The event will run from 6:30-8:30 pm, with early access for members at 6 pm.
Boots, Bulls, and Bourbon at Whiskey Ranch
Professional bull rider Ezekiel “Bull” Mitchell will visit the home of TX Whiskey for a meet-and-greet with lots of fun experiences, including boot shining, leathercrafting, roping, mechanical bull riding, live music, food trucks, and whiskey cocktails. The $10 ticket includes your first cocktail. Be one of the first 100 and get a free t-shirt. The event will run from 6-9 pm.
