November in Fort Worth brings a popular three-day foodie tradition now in its 57th year: the Fort Worth Greek Festival, which arrives this weekend. But first, there are three wine pairing parties - one at a winery and two at fancy Fort Worth hotels. End the week with a class on Spanish tapas and a brewery birthday party with some special brews.
Wednesday, November 5
Tuscany in Texas Wine Dinner The Blue Room
Chef Preston Paine of The Blue Room and Emilia’s at The Crescent Hotel will prepare a five-course dinner paired with Italian wines from the storied Marchesi Antinori estate, founded in 1385 in Tuscany. Menu highlights include shrimp and sundried tomato risotto, chestnut gnudi (Tuscan ricotta dumplings) with Texas boar ragu, and sausage-stuffed Texas quail. GaYoung Kim, education director for Marchesi Antinori, and Glenn Salva, estate manager for Antinori Napa Valley, will guide attendees through the wine pairings. Tickets are $200, plus tax and gratuity, and dinner begins at 7:30 pm.

Rombauer Vineyards Blue Party at Hotel Drover
The California wine brand invites guests to paint the town blue during this social at Hotel Drover that will benefit COREGives, an organization that provides grants for food and beverage employees with children facing a life-threatening medical condition. The $125 ticket includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music, Rombauer wines, and a swag bag. Arrive at 6 pm and be sure to wear blue.
Wine Pairing Dinner at Lost Oak Winery
The Burleson winery will host a rare multi-course pairing dinner, this one in conjunction with Beyond the Box Catering. The menu includes butternut squash soup; beet salad; sous vide New York strip with truffle parsnip puree, and grilled oyster mushrooms; and dark chocolate spiced pumpkin tart with cinnamon gelato and saffron poached pear. Dinner is $110 plus tax, and begins at 6:30 pm.
Friday, November 7
Fort Worth Greek Festival
The 57th annual Fort Worth tradition draws thousands to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church over three days for homemade Greek cuisine, live music, folk dancing, Greek beer and wine, and baked goods to-go. Popular a la carte menu items include pastitsio (ground beef and macaroni casserole), moussaka (eggplant layered with ground beef, potatoes, and zucchini), gyro sandwiches, baklava, and the flaming cheese on a stick. The festival will run Friday-Saturday from 10 am-10 pm, and Sunday from 11 am-3 pm. Admission is free.
Spanish Tapas Class at Hao’s Grocery & Café
Chef Hao Tran will share authentic techniques for creating traditional Spanish tapas she picked up during her time in Spain. Menu highlights include paella, crispy calamari, and croquettes. The class is $55 and will run from 6-8 pm.
Saturday, November 8
Maplefest – 5 Years of Maple Branch Craft Brewery
The Foundry District brewery and gastropub will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a full day of festivities. Doors open at 11 am for maple-inspired beer releases brewed specifically for the anniversary, along with a vendor market set to run from 12-5 pm, and special anniversary pint glasses (while supplies last). Don’t miss the wood-fired pizza, too.
