Where to drink

Where to drink in Fort Worth right now: 5 new bars to hit in March

A new batch of bars has opened around Fort Worth in recent weeks, some brand new and some newly reopened. As spring weather finds its footing (winter freezes look to be gone for the season), these venues deserve a visit this month for their indoor-outdoor seating, craft cocktails, bar bites, and cold brew.

Morton’s Tavern
Reviving a once beloved South Fort Worth watering hole is Morton’s Tavern, now open in the former Twilite Lounge space (212 Lipscomb St.). The ownership, husband-and-wife duo Jimmy and Monika Morton, were involved in Twilite Lounge and say they couldn’t let the space go after it closed in 2023. The updated space now has a neighborhood sports tavern vibe, with TVs, a game room, refreshed patio, and comfortable seating. Food offerings come from former food truck JesCrave and include burgers, wings, and tacos along with surprises like tortas and elote. Morton’s boasts 16 beers on tap, a stellar lineup of craft cocktails and mocktails, and happy hour, Monday through Friday from 3-7 pm.

Parker County Brewing Company
Taking over the former Parker County Ice House (210 Willow Bend Dr., Willow Park) is this craft brewery formerly located a mile away in The Shops at Willow Park. Now in its new digs, Parker Country Brewing Company has nearly doubled its space, with more than 6,000 square feet inside and 6,000 outside on an expansive patio ideal for live music and large groups. Open since 2018, the brewery has generated a large customer base, but owner Ryan Stewart says he was limited in his offerings due to space. Now with a larger kitchen, he can offer an expanded menu, including wings, Brussels sprouts, and smash burgers. A full bar also allows for craft cocktails. Try the Rosemary Paloma or the Peach Blonde Ale.

World of Beer
After closing 14 locations in 2023 and 2024 (including the Fort Worth outlet at 3252 W. 7th St.), World of Beer has successfully emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Tampa-based craft beer destination plans to reopen four to five franchise locations a year over the next five years, with Fort Worth now open again as one of the first on the list. This means patrons can indulge once again in elevated bar food – including that giant Bavarian pretzel with housemade stone ground mustard – plus more than 50 craft brews on tap and a full menu of craft cocktails, mocktails, wine, mules, and shots. Also back is Wednesday night trivia, weekend brunch, and March Madness draft beer, and wing specials with the game sound on.

Old Town Rumors
It's more than rumor that Old Town Burleson has a brand new craft cocktail bar that’s getting lots of attention. Located at 105 W. Ellison St., the elusive spot is pretty secretive with its offerings - there’s no website and its social media pages don’t share much information. But positive reviews tout an elevated ambiance with attention to service, great cocktails, and an atmosphere that’s not too loud or rowdy. The drink menu features old fashioneds, mules, and gin-based libations like the classic Tom Collins, Bramble, and the frothy, lemony White Lady. Old Town Rumors also offers bottle service and a small menu of apps, including charcuterie and deviled eggs.

Crystal Springs Hideaway
This laid-back Texas beer garden opened in late December and has already garnered a CultureMap Tastemaker Award nomination. Crowds are sure to flock to the new hot spot now that spring patio weather is here. Located in a century-old bungalow in the River District (113 Roberts Cut Off Rd.), Crystal Springs Hideaway is part indoor-outdoor restaurant, part cocktail bar, and part wine and cheese shop. Most of the seating is outside on picnic tables, where a water tower overlooks trees strung with lights, a stone carriage house that doubles as a second bar, and a stage for occasional live music and big screen game watching. The Texas beer garden theme is evident in the list of Texas beers on tap – 15 of them in all. Signature cocktails include the Soggy Peso Margarita, a tribute to Isla Mujeres, a favorite getaway of the owners. Also try the Skinny Minnie Ginny (gin and diet tonic), espresso martini, and bourbon old fashioned.
