Fort Worth beer pioneer Rahr & Sons Brewing to leave current location

Rahr and Sons Brewing is on the move.
Fort Worth's favorite brewery is on the move: Rahr & Sons Brewing is leaving its current location at 701 Galveston Ave. in search of new digs.
A post from the brewery calls it "an exciting new chapter." Their last day to open the tap room will be May 17. The lease ends the last day of May.
"After 20 extraordinary years of brewing and serving our beers on Galveston Avenue, we are embarking on an exciting new chapter," the post says. "Our goals for the future of Rahr Brewing have surpassed the capabilities of our current location, so we are searching for our new home."
Owners Fritz Rahr and Tara Harper Rahr say that "We have been looking all over the DFW but mostly focusing on Fort Worth. It has been really hard to find a space that we can convert into a brewery."
"One of our important things is having an outdoor space so everyone can bring their dogs and we can host adoption events," Tara says.
The brewery is definitely not closing, however.
"Don't worry, your Rahr beers will still be brewed by our same talented brewers in Fort Worth," their post says. "As we begin this exciting journey to find a new location, please be assured that our brewing and the availability of your favorite Rahr beers in restaurants, bars and stores will remain uninterrupted."
If anything, they're growing: "Our line of beer is expanding as well as the core styles that you love," the post says. "Exciting things are happening at RAHR, and things are changing - but what isn't, is our love of bringing you your favorite Rahr beers."
They'll also continue to host their signature 5K races and social runs every month at locations around town. "It will be a little different for a while, but I think a fun change in the mean time!" the post says.
The tap room will remain open until May 17, 2025, and regular tap room days and hours remain unchanged.
In response, fans said they hate to see the Southside lose such a staple of the community, but the brewery thanked their fans, saying, "We are so grateful for all the memories, the laughter, and all of the life events we’ve shared together at the brewery."
