This week is spring break week for many, and it comes with a lucky bonus St. Patrick's Day, which falls on Tuesday. Several restaurants are hosting Irish-inspired events with menu specials and live music - some new and some running for decades. End the week with a distillery anniversary party. Slainte!
Tuesday, March 17
47th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at J. Gilligan’s
One the longest running and most popular St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in DFW is downtown Arlington’s bash at J. Gilligan’s. A tradition since 1979, the party brings a full day of green beer, J. Gilligan’s Irish nachos (made with potato skins), live music, and DJ beats. The event runs from 11 am-1 am, and it’s family friendly early in the day.
Angelo’s BBQ 68th Anniversary
The iconic Fort Worth barbecue joint, led by third-generation pitmaster Jason George, opened on St. Patrick’s Day in 1958. Every year, the institution hosts a birthday celebration with green beer and an Irish bagpiper, which will play during dinner service. Hours are 11 am-9 pm.
34th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party at Michaels Cuisine
Chef Michael Thomson goes green for St. Patrick’s Day with lots of menu specials, including “Luck of the Irish” corned beef hash soup, Irish nachos topped with black beans and corned beef, Guinness Irish stew with Wagyu beef, and more. Pair them with Leprechaun champagne cocktails or a Jameson Irish mule. Open at 11 am.
St. Patrick’s Day at Maple Branch Craft Brewery
Doors open at 11 am for a full day of Irish cheer at Maple Branch Craft Brewery. Limited edition gold St. Patrick’s Day mugs will be for sale for $30 and purchase includes three hefty 18-ounce pours. Live music from the Ghillie Band starts at 6 pm with bagpipes, fiddles, and Celtic rhythms. The party runs until 11 pm.
St. Patrick’s Day at Flying Saucer
The downtown draught emporium will host a St. Patrick’s Day party featuring live music, $5 draft specials, and a menu feature of shepherd’s pie. The Black Cherries will take the stage from 7-10 pm.
Couples Cook: An Irish Dinner for St. Patrick’s Day at Central Market
Couples will work together in small teams to create an Irish meal of soda bread, emerald salad, lamb chops with Guinness pan sauce, creamy mashed potatoes, and apple cake with vanilla custard sauce. Irish beer is included with the $105 price. The class at the Central Market Fort Worth cooking school starts at 6:30 pm.

Blackland Distillery’s 7th Anniversary Party
The chic Foundry District distillery will mark seven years in business with an afternoon celebration. Visit for a distillery open house with behind-the-scenes looks, bottle engraving, live music, food trucks, raffle prizes and craft cocktails. The party will run from 2-6 pm.
