Fort Worth is becoming breakfast central and now there's a new concept moving in: Called Urban Egg, it's a small chain from Colorado that's opening its first location in Texas right here in Fort Worth at 2828 N. Tarrant Pkwy., at the southwest corner of I-35W. According to a release, it will open in the spring.
Urban Egg was founded in Colorado Springs in 2012, and is a "daytime" restaurant, meaning that it's open for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, serving breakfast, brunch and lunch classics with a modern twist.
At breakfast, that means omelets, benedicts, pancakes (including gluten-free options, oh boy), cinnamon rolls, biscuits & sage sausage gravy, steak & eggs, chicken & waffles, breakfast tacos, corned beef hash, egg white omelet, and avocado toast.
At lunch, it's sandwiches and salads such as a Monte Cristo, a bacon jam burger, and an avocado cheddar chicken melt. And whether breakfast, lunch, or brunch, there are juices, coffee, tea, mimosas, and cocktails such as the essential espresso martini.
In a statement, Urban Egg founder Randy Price says that "the key to Urban Egg’s success has been the same since we started – locally sourced ingredients, a made-from-scratch mentality and a fresh innovative twist to classics in a warm, inviting atmosphere with genuinely sincere service."
The Fort Worth restaurant will seat 120 indoors and feature a patio with 44 additional outdoor seats and a vintage horse trailer-turned-bar.
The chain currently has eight locations in Colorado and one in Kansas City; Urban Egg Fort Worth will be the tenth.
They've earned honors as “Best Pancakes” by Reader’s Digest, one of the “12 Best Restaurants in Colorado Springs” by US News & World Report, one of the “10 Best Brunches in Denver” by Westword, and “Best Brunch” and “Best New Restaurant” by Kansas City Magazine.
“We see Fort Worth as the perfect site for our first restaurant in Texas,” says Urban Egg CEO Mark Augarten in a statement. “The growth of the surrounding communities and daytime eatery guest is undeniable in Fort Worth."
