Fort Worth hotel ranks on list of 100 Greatest Places in the World
A luxury boutique hotel in Fort Worth has made a splendid list of the greatest places in the world. The list, compiled by Time magazine, is called " 2024 World's Greatest Places," and it includes none other than Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection, the art-laden Fort Worth hotel that opened at 3700 Camp Bowie Blvd. in 2023.
Bowie House is the only place in Texas that makes the list — and it's in heady company, one of 100 destinations from around the world: from the White Desert luxury camp in Antarctica to Highland Base adventure resort in Kerlingarfjoll, Iceland, to the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand, where the third season of HBO series White Lotus is being filmed.
To compile the 2024 list, the magazine solicited nominations of places — including hotels, cruises, restaurants, attractions, museums, parks, and more — from their network of correspondents and contributors, as well as through an application process, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences.
Time does these kinds of lists annually but with slightly different twists. For example, in 2023, their list featured 50 cities.
"[But] this year we decided to explore even more — and more specific — establishments that stand out in their field, and the world," their explanation says. "The result: 100 extraordinary destinations to visit and stay this year."
The list includes both "places to stay" as well as "places to visit" including museums and other attractions.
The homage to Bowie House praises everything from its decor to its spa to its setting in Fort Worth, which they describe as "booming." Here's more:
"Saddle up: there’s a new shelter in town. The luxury boutique hotel Bowie House, one of the latest additions to the Auberge Resorts Collection, pays homage to its local roots with Texas-sized charm. Back in the day, when cattle thundered through Fort Worth, the city earned its nickname “Cowtown.” Now, it's a culture town. The hotel mirrors Fort Worth’s zeitgeist. Bowie House’s soul is the west; its spirit transcends that. The spacious, light-showered guest rooms— studios, lofts and suites — are the stuff of cowboy dreams, equipped with a hat rack, boot jacks, and a bar cart, as well as plenty of upscale touches like rain showers, and, in the signature Goodnight Suite, a crackling fireplace that invites cocooning late into the evening. The hotel rises over the vibrant Cultural District, and the city’s twin appeal – down-home yet debonair – is further revealed at the spa Ash, where custom treatments include the Deep West, with guided stretching, acupressure, and cupping. Some of the hotel’s recent experiences have included trail rides, step-and-line dancing, and personalizing your own Texas rag with chain-stitch embroiderer Fowl & Maker. Stepping outside, Fort Worth is booming: it’s one of the fastest growing cities in the country, with new hotels and restaurants and a variety of public parks in development, plus the upcoming debut of a James Turrell art installation and the highly anticipated National Juneteenth Museum in 2026."
When it opened, Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection was the second Auberge Resorts Collection property in Texas, after the top-rated Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resorts Collection in Austin. The company manages one-of-a-kind luxury hotels, resorts, and private clubs in some of the world's most coveted locations, including Napa Valley, Aspen, and Santa Fe, and across Mexico, Caribbean, and Europe.
Bowie House has earned loads of accolades since opening, including a nomination in CultureMap's 2024 Tastemaker Awards for Best New Restaurant for its Texas-style contemporary chophouse Bricks and Horses.
Among the other 19 U.S. properties on Time's list include Modern Elder Academy in Santa Fe, described as the world’s first “midlife wisdom school"; the Rabbit Hole, an immersive child's museum in Kansas City, Missouri; and Fontainebleau Las Vegas, a $3.7 billion dollar hotel, casino, and convention center that just opened on the Strip.
