Weekend Event Planner
These are the 11 best things to do in Fort Worth this weekend
While many events in and around Fort Worth have either been postponed or canceled during the coronavirus pandemic, organizations have pivoted to virtual or socially-distanced events to continue offering the masses some entertainment while we need it the most.
Below are the best ways to spend your free time this weekend. While not every event is out of the house, they all promise to provide a nice distraction from the everyday life.
Thursday, February 25
RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo Semi-Finals
In advance of The American Rodeo at AT&T Stadium on March 6 & 7, Cowtown Coliseum will host nine days of preliminary rodeo events. Approximately 700 contestants will compete in seven Western skills, including barrel racing, breakaway roping, rough stock, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, and tie-down roping. There will also be a FanZone featuring live music, demonstrations, food trucks, and more in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The event goes through March 5.

In this virtual event, TCU alum and NFL Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson will hold court to talk about his journey to stay committed to social justice issues in the larger game of life. As a current TCU Board of Trustee member, Tomlinson is hard at work raising awareness over getting members of "America's Team" to work with one another for a better tomorrow.
Fort Worth Opera presents Moonlight Film Fest with the Metropolitan Opera
After the finale was scuttled last week due to the cold weather, the Fort Worth Opera will wrap up the Moonlight Film Fest with the Metropolitan Opera with a screening of La Fille du Régiment at Coyote Drive-In. The opera centers on Marie, the mascot, or “daughter,” of an army regiment, who becomes the object of a tug-of-war between the regiment and the Marquise of Berkenfield, who knows more about Marie than she lets on.
Stage West Theatre presents In Search of the Sublime
Stage West will present In Search of the Sublime, an online, interactive performance ... with jokes. Using suggestions from the audience, the cleansing power of running, and music, the performers will weave together tales of terror and awe in a concerted effort to achieve The Sublime — whatever that is. Part-poem, part-story, part-something else altogether, the performance asks one question — can you feel it? There will be performances every Thursday through Sunday through March 21.
Friday, February 26
