This weekend will be another eclectic one in Fort Worth, with events running the gamut of interests. Choices include two new art exhibits, a classical music duo, hot rods on display, screenings of an Oscar-nominated film, a celebration of Mexican music, a fly fishing festival, vintage shopping, a new wing of a local museum, and a concert by a country music star.

Thursday, March 7
The Art Galleries at TCU openings
The Art Galleries at TCU will open two new exhibits. "Separate Voices, Shared Visions" features artists Maria de Los Angeles, Renee Magnanti, Bill Pangburn, Mary Ting, and Lobsang Tsewang, all of whom address sociopolitical issues through printmaking. Gfeller + Hellsgård: "No No No No I Want You to Be Wide Awake and Hear Details You've Never Heard Before" features a new, site-specific print installation with large, temporary wooden structures. "Separate Voices" will be on display through March 21, while Gfeller + Hellsgård will be on display through May 4.
The Cliburn presents Christina and Michelle Naughton
Christina and Michelle Naughton are an acclaimed piano duo making their North Texas debut, who are set to appear all over the world in the coming year. For this concert, the sisters will play selections from Mozart, Poulenc, Schubert, Nancarrow, Copland, Ravel, and Schoenfeld. The concert will be at the Piano Pavilion at Kimbell Art Museum.

Goodguys 9th Spring Lone Star Nationals
Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will kick off their 2019 event season at Texas Motor Speedway with the 9th edition of the Spring Lone Star Nationals. This “Disneyland for Gearheads” event features over 2,000 candy-colored and chromed hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, and trucks up through 1987. The event, taking place through Sunday, also features vendor exhibits, Team Texas Stock car rides, food booths, Nitro Thunderfest dragster exhibition, the burn-out competition, Goodguys AutoCross racing, and musical entertainment.
Magnolia at the Modern: Cold War
Roma was the unstoppable foreign language film at this year's Oscars, but if it hadn't existed, Cold War might have been equally as successful. Director Pawel Pawlikowski was nominated for Best Director and the film picked up a Best Cinematography nod as well. Set against the backdrop of the 1950s Cold War in Poland, two people of differing backgrounds and temperaments begin an almost impossible romance. The film will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Mariachi Los Camperos: "Via Mexico, Viva America!"
For more than 50 years, the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Mariachi Los Camperos has celebrated the rich vocal tradition of Mexico with a lively program featuring the country’s most beloved songs. This Fort Worth Symphony concert, playing three times through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall, will explore the works of Mexico’s many internationally renowned songwriters, highlighting the exquisite voices of the group.

Tarrant Regional Water District presents Flyfest
Flyfest is a family-friendly day of fly fishing, food trucks, wine, craft beer, and kids activities. The festival, taking place at River Park Trailhead, will include expert presentations from top anglers that will cover a diverse range of topics as well as various fly tying lessons. Fly fishing experts will host numerous demonstrations, including multiple casting techniques for every level. The festival also highlights craft beer and wine, live music, cooking demonstrations, face painting, kid fish tank, rock climbing wall, and open fishing for both rod and fly anglers.
Funky Finds Spring Fling
Funky Finds will present their annual Spring Fling, where visitors can shop for handmade, repurposed, upcycled, and vintage finds. The event, taking place at Will Rogers Memorial Center through Sunday, will also feature live music, pet adoptions, swag bags, and more. There will be a charitable raffle, with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of North Texas and CASA of Tarrant County.
National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Second Floor Grand Opening
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will reopen its second floor, the Kit Moncrief Galleries, and "It’s Never Just a Horse" exhibition. The newly renovated second floor will feature an Immersion Interactive Room, Bucking Bronc Experience, film, never-before-seen artifacts like Jon Snow's saddle from Game of Thrones and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman costume, and five thematic islands that display the relationship between women and horses.
Scotty McCreery in concert
Despite American Idol having had 17 seasons and counting, there is a clear hierarchy for successful singers the show has produced. At the top is Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and now probably Adam Lambert. Tenth season winner Scotty McCreery is in the second tier, but if he has a few more hit albums — his 2018 album, Seasons Change, was his third to go to No. 1 — he's liable to join that top group sooner rather than later. He'll play at Billy Bob's Texas.
