Rise and Shine
Your guide to the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
Of all the must-dos in Fort Worth during January and February, the Stock Show & Rodeo should be at the top of your list.
For 125 years, North Texans have donned their boots, jeans, and cowboy hats for a special experience that's unlike any other event in the area.
This year's Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is January 14-February 5 at Dickies Arena and the Will Rogers Memorial Center, and here's a look at everything that's part of the iconic experience:
The rodeo
Cowboys and cowgirls display the grit and determination necessary to become a rodeo champion on the Dickies Arena dirt in events like bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and more. There are 25 performances from which to choose, meaning that the excitement generated on the arena dirt is constantly changing.
The excitement starts with the Best of the West Ranch Rodeo (January 14-15), then continues with the Best of Mexico Celebraciòn (January 16), Cowboys of Color Rodeo (January 17), Bulls Night Out Xtreme Bull Riding (January 18-19), and the Texas Champions Challenge Rodeo (January 20).
From January 21 through February 5 is the now-legendary ProRodeo Tournament, where the nation’s elite contestants battle it out for a $1.2 million purse. More information and tickets can be found here.
The music
Head to the Bud Light Roadhouse or The Corkyard on Dickies Arena’s Simmons Bank Plaza for a mix of classic country, Texas country, cover bands, and other genres that are guaranteed to get the party started — or keep it going long after the rodeo dust settles.
High-profile acts such as Kansas, Clint Black, the Old 97’s, Jeff Foxworthy, and Ryan Bingham are also featured in the Auditorium Concert Series, though a separate ticket is required.
The fashion
Rodeo and music are just the beginning of a full-on Fort Worth Stock Show experience. Looking for that new pair of boots, some statement jewelry, or a classic shirt to complete your cultured cowboy look? You'll find all this and more in the acres of vendors that range from well-known retailers to unique boutiques. If there's a one-of-a-kind item you’ve been searching near and wide for, chances are it's here.
The food
Hunger pangs never last long at the Stock Show. From Reata’s Southwestern cuisine in the iconic Backstage Club to corndogs, funnel cakes, and cotton candy on the Carnival Midway, there’s food for every taste bud at the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.
The animals
Of course, what’s the Stock Show without livestock? From the cute critters in the Mattress Firm Petting Zoo to the Budweiser Clydesdales and lots of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses, these farm and ranch animals are the primary reason the show happens each year.
