A slippery slidey new entertainment venue is coming to town: Called Slick City Action Park, it's an indoor slide and activity venue that will open in Denton, in a former trampoline park at 2434 S I-35 E. #140.

Sad about the trampoline park but wheeee to slides.

According to a release, it will open on August 30.

Slick City Action Park is the world’s first indoor dry-slide and air court park designed for all ages. The concept was founded in 2021 by Bron Launsby, an entrepreneur in the family entertainment space and a board member of the International Adventure and Trampoline Parks Association, when he partnered with the inventor of Slick Slide, Gary Schmit, to bring a new and exciting concept to the adventure park industry.

Slick City - Denton options include:

  • giant dry slides
  • air courts for basketball & dodgeball
  • trapeze and swing
  • junior play areas with smaller slides

By "dry slides," they mean this is not a waterpark. Slides are up to 22 feet tall, in a dozen configurations with namea such as Mega Launch, Tailspin, and The Dragon — some straight runs, some curvy, some with a roller-coaster vibe. You wear $5 socks you must buy at the venue, and you do your sliding on mats.

"Air courts" are like a combination of basketball and trampoline, with surfaces that you can jump and bounce on.

Tickets are $26 for 90 minutes, or $36 for two hours; for anyone 4 years or older; it's $14 for under 4 years old.

While kids are the primary customer, other locations say that their customers are about 20 percent adult, and they host special late adult-only nights.

The Denton location has a cafe with food and drink, a second-level mezzanine area overlooking the park, and three private party rooms. Mobile food ordering allows guests to order from their own table.

For snacks, they're partnered with J&J Snack Foods, serving brands such as Dippin' Dots, Hola Churros, SuperPretzel, and Icee shaved ice.

This is the first location in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the second in Texas, and only the fourth for the soon-to-be-expanding chain, which currently has locations in Denver, St. Louis, Missouri, Peoria, Arizona, and Katy, Texas.

"As our first location in the Dallas area, we’ve created an experience unlike any before - with more exhilarating slides, more air courts, and more unforgettable fun for all ages," Launsby says in a statement.
