There are no tricks, just treats this week. They take the form of beer and candy pairings, a ghoulish whiskey dinner, and even a frightening fun run through a Fort Worth cemetery that ends with tacos and cocktails. A vodka release party and a three-day ethnic food festival round out the week. Cheers to a "ghoulicious" Halloween week.

What goes best with an Almond Joy? A German Hefeweizen, of course. Trick-or-treat in adult fashion with a Halloween-themed beer pairing. Try four craft beers paired with four popular Halloween candies, including Junior Mints, Snickers and Sour Patch Kids. The spooktacular pairing is $10 and available through Halloween.

The Haunting of Whiskey Ranch: Murder Mystery Dinner
Forgo trick-or-treating for an evening of hilarious hauntings at Whiskey Ranch, where guests will be treated to hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert and TX Whiskey cocktails while solving an entertaining murder mystery. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Snag seats now for $90 per person. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm.

Romanian Food Festival
It’s the 13th year for the Saint Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church festival in Colleyville, which brings patrons a taste of traditional Romanian culture in the form of music, dance, and food. Think cabbage rolls, parmesan pork cuts, polenta with feta and sour cream, skinless sausage, oven-baked drumsticks, and more. Don’t miss the Romanian doughnuts, too. Beer and wine will also be for sale, and everything can be purchased a la carte with tickets. The festival will run Friday through Sunday, and admission is free.

Dia de los Veggies at Righteous Foods
In a health-conscience twist on the traditional Dia de los Muertos Mexican holiday, the clean-eating restaurant is celebrating food for the living — not the dead. The $15 ticket includes a taco and a cocktail along with DJ music, local art, a palm reader, and the opportunity to run a potentially spine-tingling 5K — the route takes runners around nearby Greenwood Cemetery and back. (Some personal records may be broken.) The run will start at 6 pm sharp, followed by festivities back at the restaurant, from 6:30-9:30 pm.

BLK EYE Bottle Launch Party at BlackEyed Distilling
Try infused vodkas and craft cocktails at this South Fort Worth distillery, which is housed in historic Fire Station No. 5. The party is in celebration of BlackEyed’s second limited-edition label, created by beloved Fort Worth artist Nancy Lamb, who’ll be on-site for bottle signings. The event will run from 5-8 pm, and admission is free.

Fort Worth-area McDonald's to get the ultra-buzzy chicken Big Mac

Fast-food chain McDonald’s, best known for its burgers, is doing the unthinkable: serving a chicken sandwich.

According to a release, the burger chain is "dropping" a new Chicken Big Mac at participating restaurants in North Texas for a limited time beginning October 10.

The Chicken Big Mac features the same toppings found on a Big Mac, but with two tempura battered fried chicken patties in place of beef burgers. Let us list the toppings here: special sauce, lettuce, cheese, and pickles on a sesame seed bun.

The sandwich was first introduced in 2022 for a limited run in the United Kingdom and enjoyed a test run in Miami the same year. Now it's hitting the U.S., and more specifically, Dallas-Fort Worth.

“With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” says Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA.

The release relays a story about a promotional event that took place last weekend in Los Angeles with a one-day pop-up dining experience by Chain, an online entity known for its "chef-driven takes on chain restaurant classics," wherein they served an item called "The Chicken Sandwich."

Many a fan was hoodwinked by the premise that the sandwich was a fake — but ba-zing, McDonald’s was behind it all. How is that for some next-level viral buzz-generating hype. (Chain is so proud of the promotion that they have it pinned on their Instagram account, and rightfully so! They really perpetrated quite the charade.)

The chain has also enlisted "internet star" Kai Cenat who will try the Chicken Big Mac on his livestream to determine whether a Big Mac with a chicken is, in fact, a Big Mac. Does McDonald's know how to work this social media stuff or does McDonald's know how to work this social media stuff?
