1883 star Faith Hill to receive prestigious award from Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth
Country superstar and actress Faith Hill will receive the Patsy Montana Award from the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth this fall.
The museum made the announcement in a news release about the 2022 Hall of Fame inductees. The 46th Annual Induction Luncheon and Ceremony will take place Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Dickies Arena.
"Named for 1987 Honoree Patsy Montana, this award recognizes those whose work in the entertainment field continue to advance the tradition of the cowgirl in the areas of film, television, music, writing and theatre," says the museum's website. Previous award winners include Emmylou Harris (1996), Jessie the Cowgirl from Toy Story 2 (2000), and last year's winner, Christina Voros, a cinematographer who has worked on hit series such as Yellowstone and its prequel 1883, which filmed around Fort Worth in 2021.
Although Hill has performed onstage around North Texas numerous times, 1883 is her most recent connection to Fort Worth and the Cowgirl Museum. She portrayed Margaret Dutton opposite her real-life husband Tim McGraw, who played James Dutton. The series centered on the Duttons' trek across the American West, and a few episodes were set in Fort Worth.
1883 debuted in December 2021 on Paramount+ and reportedly set a premiere record of 4.9 million households. The Cowgirl Museum then hosted a blockbuster exhibit of costumes and memorabilia from the show, called "1883: The Journey West."
The show is written and directed by Fort Worth native and Weatherford resident Taylor Sheridan, who also created Yellowstone. His wife, actress Nicole Sheridan, is a Cowgirl Museum board member. Four days before Hill receives her award in Fort Worth, Sheridan will accept the 2022 Larry McMurtry Award at the Lone Star Film Festival Gala, November 11 at Hotel Drover.
It'll be a big week of awards in Fort Worth.
According to the release, the 2022 inductees into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame are a philanthropist, a writer, a rancher, and a stock contractor. The induction 2022 class includes Sherry Cagan, Gretel Ehrlich, Heidi Redd, and Kirsten Vold. The Fern Sawyer Award recipient is entrepreneur and cowgirl and Nadine Lipson.
