Stage West Theatre presents JQA
Stage West Theatre will present the regional premiere of JQA, about the sixth president of the United States, John Quincy Adams. Adams lived his life backwards: brilliant diplomat in his youth, fervent congressman as a man, ineffectual president in his prime. This unique and timely play imagines a kaleidoscope of confrontations between JQA and some of his key contemporaries. The production will run through October 31.
Artisan Center Theater presents The Curious Savage
Mrs. Savage has been left $10 million by her husband. Her grown-up stepchildren, knowing that the widow’s wealth is now in negotiable securities, commit her to a sanitarium. There, Mrs. Savage meets various social misfits who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide. In getting to know her fellow inmates, Mrs. Savage realizes that she wants to remain with them. The self-seeking stepchildren are driven to distraction by their vain efforts to browbeat Mrs. Savage, but she preserves her equanimity and leads them on a merry chase. The production will run at Artisan Center Theater in Hurst through November 6.

Globe Life Field presents Stadiumlinks
Baseball season may be over for the Texas Rangers, but their home stadium will transition to another sport — golf — for Stadiumlinks, a a one-of-a-kind, nine-hole golf experience. Tee times will be offered on both Friday and Saturday in both early morning and evening sessions, ending with the ballpark lights illuminating the entire course under the night sky.
Magnolia at the Modern: Who You Think I Am
Ghosted by her hunky twenty-something lover, Claire (Juliette Binoche), a middle-aged professor and single mom, creates a fake Facebook profile to do a little undetected online snooping. But when her 24-year-old avatar "Clara" is friended by her ex's equally attractive roommate (François Civil), superficial correspondence quickly escalates toward intense intimacy and uncontrollable obsession. The film, which is in French with English subtitles, will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Harth-Bedoya Conducts "Brahms and a World Premiere: Victor Agudelo, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Brahms"
FWSO Music Director Laureate Miguel Harth-Bedoya's collaboration with Colombian composer Victor Agudelo stretches back decades. This concert will feature the world premiere of Agudelo's Algo va a sceder, or Something is going to happen..., a rhythmically intricate work that explores the chaos and foreboding of global climate change. To contrast, the concert also features Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol and closes with Brahms' Symphony No. 3. The concert will be performed three times through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.
Jubilee Theatre presents Fabulation or, the Re-education of Undine
Fabulation or, the Re-education of Undine is a social satire about an ambitious and haughty African American woman, Undine Barnes Calles, whose husband suddenly disappears after embezzling all of her money. Pregnant and on the brink of social and financial ruin, Undine retreats to her childhood home in Brooklyn’s Walt Whitman projects, only to discover that she must cope with a crude new reality. The production will run at Jubilee Theatre through October 24.

Fort Worth Opera presents Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World
Fort Worth Opera's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration resumes with encore presentations of composer Joe Illick and Pulitzer Prize-winning librettist Mark Campbell's children's opera with puppets, Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World. Based upon the book by English author and illustrator Laurence Anholt, the production follows the real-life story of Marianna Morillo Safa and her friendship with famed painter Frida Kahlo. There will be two performances — one Saturday and one Sunday — at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden on an outdoor stage.
Fort Worth Opera presents Entre Amigos
Fort Worth Opera’s 75th anniversary season officially kicks off with Entre Amigos (Between Friends), an all-star celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This one-night-only concert, taking place at Rose Marine Theater, features renowned opera singers Vanessa Becerra, Claudia Chapa, and Luis Alejandro Orozco, as well as tenor Rafael Moras, Colombian pianist Eduardo Rojas, and San Antonio’s Mariachi ensemble, Trio Chapultepec. The recital features music by composer and conductor Nico Gutierrez, along with a mix of arias, art songs, boleros, zarzuela romanzas, and traditional rancheras. The recital will be followed by an after-party at Gallery of Artes de la Rosa.
Athleta: Gold Over America Tour
Simone Biles was unable to compete in much at the Tokyo Olympics, but she'll be on hand at this special event, a high-energy, gymnastics-meets-pop-concert spectacular. The show will also feature an all-star team of female gymnastic champions, including Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Grace McCallum, MyKayla Skinner, Laurie Hernandez, Katelyn Ohashi, Shilese Jones, Chellsie Memmel, Melanie De Jesus dos Santos, and Peng-Peng Lee. The event takes place at Dickies Arena.
Hip Pocket Theatre presents Electra
Hip Pocket Theatre presents Electra, a co-production with Theatre TCU. A father sacrifices a daughter to the gods before going off to war for the sake of the battle. A wife kills her husband to avenge her daughter's slaying and his infidelity. A daughter has her mother killed to avenge her father's murder. A son kills his mother's lover for conspiring in his father's death. Where murder is concerned, does revenge equal justice? When is the "blood for blood" chain complete? The production will run through October 24.
Jon Pardi in concert
Country singer Jon Pardi has been popular since his debut in 2014, with all three of his albums getting to the top three on the Billboard Country charts, including 2016's No. 1 California Sunrise. His string of hits read like a primer for any good country musician, including "Head Over Boots," "Dirt on My Boots," "Heartache Medication, " and "Ain't Always the Cowboy." He'll play at Billy Bob's Texas on both Saturday and Sunday.

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents "Sean Scully: The Shape of Ideas" closing day
Sunday is the final day to view "Sean Scully: The Shape of Ideas" at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the exhibition features Scully’s most significant works and examines his contribution to the development of abstraction over a span of nearly five decades. The exhibition highlights the close relationship between the artist’s paintings, drawings, prints, and pastels, which are rarely shown together.
Historic Fort Worth, Inc. presents Hidden Gardens of Fort Worth Tour
The 17th annual Hidden Gardens of Fort Worth Tour will showcase five private gardens in Fort Worth's historic and charming Westover Hills neighborhood. Local artists will be painting "plein air" in each garden during the tour. This artwork will be available for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Historic Fort Worth, Inc.
Clamato Michelda Festival
Connect Respect presents its 6th annual Clamato Michelada Festival, a multicultural and outdoor event that celebrates music, food, and heritage. The event, taking place in General Worth Square, includes a competition for the best Clamato Michelada, where contestants come from all over the state to compete for the coveted trophy. A portion of the event proceeds go toward a scholarship program for FWISD graduates attending Texas Wesleyan University.
